Working for Cats Protection

At Cats Protection, we’re proud to be a large yet understated charity with an inspiring cause and a friendly culture.

Formed in 1927, we are now the UK's leading cat welfare charity, with a nationwide network of centres, volunteer-run branches and charity shops. We find suitable homes for thousands of cats each year. We also provide an array of cat care information via our publications, digital channels and National Information Line and we promote the benefits of neutering for a happier pet.

There are many reasons why Cats Protection is a great place to work and we recognise those reasons are important to you too. Working for us is challenging, rewarding and fun. More importantly, you’ll be helping to make a real difference to cats across the UK.

Looking for an animal charity job with a difference? Working for Cats Protection is not only about looking after the cats in our care. We have a diverse range of roles providing exciting careers in areas such as retail, fundraising, advocacy, veterinary, digital and IT as well as other support functions. Many of our roles offer the opportunity to work remotely and flexibly from home.

We could not achieve all that we do without the valued input and support from our wonderful Cats Protection people, numbering some 10,000 volunteers and nearly 1,000 full and part-time employees based all across the UK. Because of this, we’re thrilled you’re considering a role with us to be #YourPurrfectJob

We are one charity, but we represent many ideas, experiences and backgrounds.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of our volunteers, supporters and employees and we expect everyone who works for us to share this commitment.

Inclusion

As a socially responsible organisation we will not tolerate abuse, neglect and/or exploitation wherever it occurs or whoever is responsible. We have policies and guidance in place which sets out the steps we have taken to facilitate reporting and minimise the risk of a safeguarding incident or concern occurring in the first place, for example, through robust onboarding processes, including DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks where appropriate, and provision of training.

Our aim is to be an inclusive employer for everyone. The equality, diversity and wellbeing of our people is very important to us and our goal is for both our employees and volunteers to be able to be their true self at work.

We’re on a journey to make sure our workforce is diverse and inclusive to help us to reach our full potential as an organisation and by supporting our people to reach theirs. We’re making exciting steps forward through our employee forum, by working to decrease our gender pay gap, and with CP Pride – our LGBT+ and Allies network for employees.

We passionately believe that inclusion, diversity and equality will help Cats Protection improve the lives of all cats. We actively encourage and welcome applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates who reflect the communities that we work with and those who bring a diversity of inputs and perspectives.

Our purpose is to treat all our people equally to grow a diverse and happy workforce.
