Comprising of Anglian Water, Costain, Farrans, Jacobs, Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley, we will operate as a fully integrated and collaborative Alliance with the aim of allowing our water resource to move more freely across the Anglian region by embracing innovation and new ways of working.

By delivering a smart and resilient transfer system through the delivery of pipelines, pumping stations and associated structures, we will be capable of delivering large scale strategic assets and complex systems to our current asset base by ensuring that these are digitally enabled.

Essential to contributing to our ambitious and exciting ambitions is our ability to gather, manage and analyse information of our region's geography to ensure we make innovative and smart decisions. With this in mind, we are looking for a Archaeological Consultant.

Costain helps to improve people's lives by deploying technology-based engineering solutions to meet urgent national needs across the UK's energy, water and transportation infrastructures.

This role is for our Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) with Anglian Water, based in Peterborough.
What will I be doing?

What will you be doing as our new Archaeological Consultant?

Successful delivery of the role will require you to work in collaboration with all other archaeology team members and those from other EIA disciplines, ensuring technical consistency is maintained across the archaeology team and the SPA programme.

Within this, you'll oversee the delivery of the archaeology and heritage inputs and development of historic environment baseline information, followed by assessment of heritage impacts, authoring written deliverables and producing supporting maps for Screening, Scoping and Environmental Statements/Appraisals. Additional to this, you'll include the design and management of surveys and investigations required to inform the baselines for the above documents.

Key responsibilities:
  • Deliver all tasks assigned to you by the Archaeology Lead, promptly and cost effectively while ensuring health and safety, security and environment compliance
  • Contribute to historic environment stakeholder consultation & development of a standardised approach for the production of heritage (including digital) deliverables
  • Produce consistent, technical, high quality heritage deliverables for the Environmental Statements and Appraisals
  • Work with the Archaeology Lead and other team members to ensure that heritage deliverable in the programme meets the key SPA milestones
