Summary

Facebook is seeking an Architect experienced in the design and planning of mission-critical facilities to become part of our Data Center Design Team. The successful Candidate will possess strong knowledge in Architectural, Civil, Structural and Landscape design (CSLA), site planning, cooling and electrical systems and project delivery processes needed to support our growing fleet of Data Centres.
The Facebook Data Centre Design team leads the design execution process of our EMEA-regional Data Centres, taking a project from Site Schematic stage through full Design, to Tender & Construction Documentation stages, through to Site Execution, partnering with our Infra Construction Management Team. Facebook applies a global design approach to our Data Centre designs and the DCD Architect is responsible for ensuring local code compliance obligations are met, and constructability requirements are considered and applied to our Designs for EMEA. The Facebook DCD team endeavours to advance the global approach of Facebook Data Centres by designing best-in-class innovative and highly sustainable hyperscale Data Campuses through strategic solutions. This position is full-time and located in our Dublin office.

Required Skills

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define project design criteria and develop Basis of Design
  • Technical leader managing external Consultants to implement the project through Design stages to Construction documents to project Handover
  • Provide design support to the project Construction Manager during construction. Tasks include but not limited to, responding to RFI's, issuance of Technical Bulletins, review Submittals and shop-drawings and conducting source inspections at Vendor factories
  • Provide review services to local Data Centre Operations teams
  • Travel to Data Centre sites for project review and site walks as required- approximately 25% travel to both domestic and international project locations
  • Review and update Data Centre "as-built" documentation as re-configurations occur
  • Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies


Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Architectural Science (B.Arch or Dip Arch, B Arch Sc) or B.Eng in related Civil/ Structural Engineering Disciplines
  • Registered Architect (RIAI, RIBA (or MIEI) or equivalent) is beneficial
  • Experience as an Owner's Representative is a plus
  • Minimum of 10+ years of professional architectural experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in mission-critical facility design and construction
  • Operations and maintenance knowledge is a plus
  • Must hold good working knowledge of mission-critical design (power distribution, mechanical systems and data systems), and strong skills in technical cross-discipline coordination of CSLA and MEP systems
  • Should possess knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards
  • Strong trouble-shooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to provide solutions to complex projects under pressure
  • Must have effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Must be familiar with AutoCAD, Visio, and BIM360 software
  • Experience with overseas projects is a plus
