Brief Description

LOC: London/MK/Rugby/Birmingham

Network Rail operates and maintains the railway infrastructure 24/7 365 days a year.

You will be part of the North West & Central (NW&C) Region which consists of three routes:

  • North West Route, covering Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire and Cumbria.
  • Central Route, covering the West Midlands and Chiltern areas.
  • West Coast Mainline South Route*, covering the West Coast main line south of Crewe to London Euston.

About the role (External)

Brief Description

As a Signalling Asset Engineer (Support) you will provide comprehensive asset and maintenance support to the Route team and Maintenance Delivery organisation.

About the role

  • Provide support to Signalling asset and maintenance support on the Route.

  • Provide Signalling engineering expertise to the Route team.

  • Assure the implementation of inspection and maintenance of Signalling assets in accordance with functional policy and standards.

  • Monitoring of trends and implement actions relating to reliability, assurance, capability, and safety of Signalling equipment.

  • Provide engineering support in investigations of incidents relating to Signalling.

  • Support level 1 assurance activities including audit and verification.

  • Input into the development and management of Signalling competency and capability for the wider Route team.

  • Support the assurance of the Signalling asset data and information within the company systems and processes.

  • Manage the implementation of mitigation measures when proposed asset management actions are deferred.

  • Review and comment on derogation and non-compliance applications to Signalling related standards.

Essential

  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject
  • Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution
  • Experience in [Discipline] engineering
  • An understanding of the maintenance of [Discipline] assets
  • Knowledge of the relevant technical, safety and performance standards
  • Holds relevant professional licences and technical qualifications, or capable of achieving within reasonable timescales
  • Holds valid UK driving licence, or eligible and willing to obtain
