Assistant Engineer (Electrical)
Assistant Electrical Engineer will support the Plant Manager, Electrical Superintendent, Electrical PPM Supervisor and the Electrical Department in general in the planning, specifying, installing and maintaining the electrical systems for the North Yorkshire Polyhalite Project MTS tunnel and ancillary works. Production of documents, management of records and coordination with suppliers will be key aspects of the role. Ideal for a graduate.
As part of the construction delivery team, ensure that all tasks under their control are carried out safely, to approved designs, RAMS and ITP, compliant with specification and to the agreed programme.
Adherence to and promoting the requirements of the Health & Safety Policies.
Implement the relevant requirements of the Project Safety Management Systems within their area of responsibility.
Managing and coordinating the site electrical activities to ensure all installations and quality control procedures are performed in a timely and efficient manner, so as not to impede the construction programme.
Ensure that only the latest available information is used on site (Drawings and Specifications). Be conversant with this information.
Produce / Review ITP’s to ensure electrical quality controls are aligned with specification requirements. Implement these ITP’s during the control of the works, including the completion of inspections and records thereof.
Complete and/or review RAMS for the control of the works ensuring that all necessary documentation, as required by these statements and plans, is produced in a timely manner.
Communicate with Superintendents, foremen, gangers, workforce and sub- contractors to ensure full understanding of information provided.
Issue permits in accordance with the Control of Work Procedure (where trained and appointed to do so).
Adherence to Strabag policies and procedures.
Attendance and contribution to Daily Co-ordination meetings and Start of Shift briefings.
Contribute to the planning of activities through development of the 4-weekly programme. Monitor progress against this programme and communicate concerns to the Electrical Superintendent.
Promotes and ensures adherence to Management of Change procedures and ensure no works are undertaken without an assessment being in place.
Undertake planned and ad-hoc H&S inspections and ensure findings are communicated to the appropriate action owner.
Ensure environmental controls are adequately assessed and implemented to all tasks through co-ordination with the environmental team.
Degree (HND or similar) in Electrical Engineering
