You'll focus on promoting and monitoring compliance with applicable external laws and regulations as well as internal policies and procedures to help manage PwC's regulatory, litigation, and reputational risk.Our Risk and Quality team identifies and assists internal teams to mitigate and control client engagement risks. As part of the team, you'll provide advice to business teams within PwC on sound contract provisions, standards and approaches in accordance with PwC policies, principles and standards.
About the team

ARQ is a national team currently operating out of hubs in London, Birmingham and Edinburgh. Applications from individuals based in other offices may also be considered. Secondees would join the Investigations Team, which is part of our technology-connected Risk & Quality team of 90 within ARQ. We are looking for engaged and enthusiastic individuals who are focused on, and experienced in, delivering high quality audits. You will experience a broad range of activities and develop skills and expertise to enhance your career and progress in your business unit through the delivery of consistently high quality audits on your return.

New audit enforcement and disciplinary procedures from our regulators have resulted in an increase in regulatory information requests and investigations. The Investigations Team works alongside PwC's Office of General Counsel ("OGC") to resolve Troublesome Practice Matters ("TPMs") which arise on either ongoing or completed audits. TPMs include FRC constructive engagement enquiries and enforcement actions, ICAEW enquiries and, in some cases, matters raised by clients and litigation. As part of the team, you will act as an internal expert providing advice on accounting and auditing related matters, working with OGC, who provide legal advice on TPMs.

You don't need to be an expertto join our team, just have the enthusiasm to get involved and a willingness to learn.

This will provide a great secondment opportunity for someone of senior associate grade.

About the role

The investigations team works on a wide variety of Audit matters. We have a number of auditors based within our team who assist the lawyers in OGC in managing these TPMs.

You will be involved in various types of work, including assembly and production of documents, analysis of audit work, liaison with audit teams and responding to requests from regulators. You will work closely with both lawyers and auditors as well as other parts of the practice, e.g. forensics.

In addition to the above, you will also be working as part of the R&Q Consult team. All secondees to ARQ work alongside our experts in providing timely technical support to the practice through responding to consultations on Consult. Secondees will respond to queries covering a wide range of audit risk management issues and methodology challenges, broadening their own experiences and technical skills in doing so.

Widen your perspective- You will understand the firm from the inside and gain a different perspective. You will discover and assist in delivering what goes on behind the scenes to enable the firm to deal with TPMs and manage the firm's risk. No two days are the same.

Network outside of your peers and BU- Develop an extensive network of contacts across the firm: in ARQ, audit and OGC

Problem solving- Work on complex, one-off or difficult issues which are challenging and varied in nature.

Thought leadership- Assist the development ofnewprocesses and to manage TPMs

Practical mindset- Develop pragmatic solutions to overcome issues and manage risk.

Many of the projects are undertaken with exposure to senior partners in the firm, including Board Members and large engagement teams. Good communication skills are vital.

Support and coaching structures are in place in each project team, enabling new skills to be developed in a safe environment

Essential skills and experience

•ACA/ACCA/ICAS exam qualified

•Good IT skills and experience of using Aura

•A practical understanding of the PwC audit processes and an ability to critically evaluate the application

•Good communication and influencing skills with both peers and senior individuals

•Assertive, flexible, proactive and self motivated with a desire for learning.

•Organised with an ability to manage own workload and supervise others

We are looking for a self motivated auditor to join our team on a 12 month secondment basis to assist the existing team in the management of TPMs.
