Customer Development (Sales) makes sure that shoppers can find our brands, wherever and whenever they want them. We are responsible for building and growing relationships with our customers, predicting tomorrow's shopping trends and identifying exciting new ways to make Unilever products stand out in a crowded market. ​ CD is where it all happens; whether it’s working with Supply Chain to get stock on shelf at the right size, price and for the right shopper occasions, or with Marketing to drive new campaigns forward and selling to our retailers. ​

About The Tea Business:

Unilever is proud of its Tea business, the biggest in the world, with world class purpose driven brands such as Lipton, PG tips and Pukka. Recently, Unilever decided to separate the Tea business to ensure it can best achieve its potential. Unilever is currently reviewing several options for separation, including a demerger, an initial public offering, a disposal or through partnership models. The Tea businesses in India and Indonesia, and the partnership interests in the ready-to-drink Tea joint ventures will be retained. 

The balance of the Tea brands and geographies and all Tea estates, with generated revenues of €2 billion in 2019, is growing and profitable with proven potential both pre- and post-COVID-19. As a standalone entity, the Tea company remains number one in the world and is even better positioned to lead the industry and take full advantage of the opportunities in the category, with more focus and entrepreneurship driving greater growth and value.

Job Purpose

The person in this role will lead the Chains, workplace services and Front of House business for the Away From Home channel and lead the relationships with all major customers and distributors. They are responsible for developing strong working relationships with senior customer contacts in customers in the chains, workplace services and HORECA as well as pitching for and winning new business in Front of House. They will manage two direct reports to develop and deliver customer strategies, taking overall accountability for financial performance of tea and herbs in the channel. They will have experience in the channel and with these customers and be committed to driving our long term relationships.


Develop strong relationships with both internal & external customers (e.g. Senior Buyers, Head of Departments) Be at the top table of suppliers for your customers.
Lead the development of the joint customer strategic business plans to deliver on target Turnover, Customer Profitability and Terms
Support these customers in rebuilding their tea business post COVID.
Own the short term volume and spend forecast aligned to S&OP process for the Away From Home channel
Manage the performance of x2 remote field sales personnel. Provide on-the-job coaching and guidance including objective setting, measurement and course correction
Lead for Knowledge Based Selling for the Away From Home Channel

Role Dimensions

Accountable for full range of commercial targets, with a focus on TO growth and new business opportunities
Managing two direct reports
Play a lead role on the AFH CDLT
Occasional national travel and overnights required

Tea Business:
