Role Overview

The FT prides itself on delivering outstanding, proactive and engaging service to its global readership. In order to do so, our teams must receive the highest quality of training in order to improve productivity and effectiveness across our teams by driving adoption of B2B business technologies, processes, skills and tactics.


Our B2B teams are responsible for growing the base of group/corporate subscriptions and helping our customers to engage with the content. In order to do this, there are a number of business systems that provide further insight and support the teams in making strategic and tactical decisions. These systems include a number of internal and external solutions, which provide the ability to view and manage Leads and CRM (Salesforce), visibility of account usage and engagement figures in web analytics systems, contract management (SpringCM + DocuSign), email tracking (Yesware), and Marketing Leads (Marketo), amongst others. 


This role will be responsible for the creation of training courses and relevant material in order to support and improve the performance of our B2B teams. Working in this global role, your focus will be on working with relevant stakeholders to gather requirements for the development and delivery of training. In turn, you will also share performance and system improvement opportunities identified from training analysis and evaluation with relevant stakeholders. Stakeholders will include Directors and Board Members. 


This role will support a number of global offices, with training often delivered remotely to a variety of roles within Sales, Marketing, Customer Success and Support teams. The role will have direct responsibility for Product and Systems training.

What you will be responsible for

  • Design and deliver high-quality training courses and material, managing the global roll-out to all B2B teams, ensuring the training meets the learning objectives and empowers our teams to achieve and exceed their targets.

  • Build and maintain an in-depth understanding of the B2B business and how the FT is used within organisations so that the training may be tailored to effectively support B2B teams.

  • Be responsible for the systems element of the B2B onboarding program ensuring its effectiveness and ability to accelerate time to competence.

  • Review existing training materials produced by in house and third parties to determine appropriateness and relevance.

  • Conduct comprehensive training needs analysis to support the delivery of business initiatives/objectives, such as increased audience engagement

  • Champion our ‘digital first’ approach that challenges the traditional thinking of classroom-based training being the norm.

  • Assist with the management of our hybrid Sales Enablement + Learning Management System (Showpad)

  • Design and utilise measurement tools and feedback mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of existing and new training.

  • Work with regional teams to ensure training alignment globally, allowing for regional differences where appropriate

  • Create learning materials to support the training that will enable a “self-serve” approach, in order to drive efficiency and end-user ownership

  • Work closely with product management and delivery teams to support system rollouts, in order to drive adoption and the effective use of business tools

  • Collaborate with the Head of Sales Programmes on other tasks, as and when required.

Experience/skills you need to be successful in this role 


  • Proven experience as a system trainer

  • Significant experience in systems and process-oriented training programme delivery 

  • Excellent track record in designing and executing successful online and face-to-face training programmes 

  • Experience of working with Salesforce Lightning

  • Experience in managing stakeholder expectations and working with ‘subject-matter experts’ 

  • In-depth understanding of adult learning principles and their application in traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in-classroom training, e-learning, online, workshops, simulations etc)

  • Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively

  • Strong writing and record-keeping abilities for reports and training manuals

  • Experience of working with global remote teams

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, proven by experience working across teams/projects that have spanned multiple locations.

  • Experience of working within an Agile environment and/or with Agile development teams

  • High level of initiative and self-motivation

  • Excellent Google Suite & Microsoft Office skills

  • Ability to travel


  • Experience of working in a B2B sales environment

  • Demonstrable change management skills with cultural awareness

  • A background in print and/or digital media products

  • Experience in Marketing or Sales 

  • Training qualification/certification

  • Experience of delivering “train-the-trainer” programmes

  • Experience in designing onboarding experiences.
