Band 6 - Counsellor, Well-being/Corporate

Job Reference: 360-E-9174

Employer: Department: Admin Location: Watford Salary: £32,933 - £39,681 pa pro rata inc HCA

As an employer of nearly 5,000 staff, West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust is the place to be. Having have been shortlisted over the last three years for 18 national people related awards and most recently winning the Nursing Times award for Best UK Employer 2019 we are immensely proud of our achievements.

We have lots to shout about! Despite having lots of challenges, we've worked really hard to make West Herts a great place to work. The good news is we're really starting to see the results of our efforts. We're one of the few NHS organisations across the UK to have achieved a phenomenal 0% nurse vacancy rate within our adult inpatient areas. We have also recently secured over £450m capital funding to transform our sites and give our patients and colleagues within #teamwestherts the working environment they deserve.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Counsellor to provide staff support and wellbeing services within the Acute Hospital Trust. The post holder will work with NHS staff who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and those requiring support for other work-related difficulties.

This varied role will include working with multi-disciplinary teams, providing one-to-one and group interventions and team debriefs. The post-holder will be HCPC/BACP accredited and will require post-qualification experience. We welcome applications from counsellors with experience in relevant fields of staff support, trauma, loss/bereavement, stress management and work-related support.

This exciting new post forms part of a Trust-wide initiative to develop staff wellbeing services. The post-holder will work along-side a clinical psychologist and form part of a wider team including pastoral care, education and training departments.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic counsellor with a demonstrable interest in working with professionals in health care settings. An understanding of evidence-based interventions is essential, as is the ability to engage staff, promote wellbeing and work in an evolving and changing environment.

The post-holder will be based in Watford General Hospital and work with staff across hospital sites, including Hemel Hempstead and St Albans. The post-holder will be managed by the Trust Well-Being Lead and supervised by a Clinical Psychologist.
