Band 8c- Trust Secretary- Corporate

Job Reference: 360-E-9197

Employer: Department: Corporate Location: Watford General Hospital Salary: £65,542 - £75,455 pa inc HCA

As an employer of nearly 5,000 staff, West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust is the place to be. Having have been shortlisted over the last three years for 18 national people related awards and most recently winning the Nursing Times award for Best UK Employer 2019 we are immensely proud of our achievements.

We have lots to shout about! Despite having lots of challenges, we've worked really hard to make West Herts a great place to work. The good news is we're really starting to see the results of our efforts. We're one of the few NHS organisations across the UK to have achieved a phenomenal 0% nurse vacancy rate within our adult inpatient areas. We have also recently secured over £450m capital funding to transform our sites and give our patients and colleagues within #teamwestherts the working environment they deserve.

We are looking for an experienced person who has a background in the NHS and working with Executive teams. We are also willing to support someone with the right skill set and motivation to develop into the role as well.

The role of Trust Secretary is a pivotal one within the organisation. The post holder acts as the principal advisor to the Board and the organisation as a whole on all aspects of governance. The post holder will manage all corporate and Board business and is responsible for ensuring that there are sound and integrated corporate governance policies, procedures and structures in place; and that the Trust complies with its legal, constitutional and regulatory requirements.

You will require energy, motivation and an ability to communicate with staff and external stakeholders and partners across the integrated care system. The ability to develop effective working relationships and influence all members of the multiprofessional teams is paramount to this rewarding role

This post offers you the opportunity to contribute fully in the development of ensuring that the Trust has a robust governance infrastructure that supports compliance, complies with NHS England/Improvement in relation to governance, and takes account of the Code of Governance and other relevant best practice recommendations in corporate governance.

Interviews will be held in the afternoon of 28th October 2020.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require current Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the current Resident Labour Market Test which will be in place until the end of December 2020. UK Visas and Immigration requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, have had to present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) are also subject to this requirement.
