About this role

We have around 1.2 million customers and serve over half the FTSE 350. Our customers range from big household names, government departments and public service organisations right through to small businesses and new start-ups. We cover both the communications and IT services markets. Overall we're focused on four main product markets: Fixed Voice; Mobility; Fibre and connectivity; networked IT services provided over the biggest UK network in both fixed and mobile communications. We also provide network IT services to corporate and public sector organisations in the Republic of Ireland. Our Wholesale business helps communications providers (CPs) and other organisations provide fixed or mobile phone services. Our ventures provide mass-market services like directory enquiries and payphones, and enterprise services including Fleet Solutions and BT Redcare. We also offer specialist enterprise services to our Internet of Things customers.

The Sales Enablement function is responsible for providing our Sales teams with the best capabilities, tools and governance to effectively sell within their customer base, improving our sales and customer experience.

A key role of Sales Enablement is to create consistency and drive innovation across the channels, ensuring Sales are all adequately supported to be able to deliver on their Sales targets and overall Sales strategy. The team therefore exists to ensure there is strong interaction between the segments, clearer prioritisation of Sales channels' needs and greater alignment on the use of tools, systems and processes in place. We are focusing on Getting the Basics Right by ensuring correct SE sales processes so sales can sell in the right way, driving Consistency across Enterprise with a common approach across all Enterprise sales teams, Simplifying our Sales journeys for Sales to sell propositions and transforming and innovating by adopting innovative, market-leading sales processes, tools and capabilities.

The Sales Enablement function centres their activities around three key areas; customer-related activities, Sales-related activities and governance related activities.

The KPIs specific to the Sales Enablement teams' activities are aligned with the Sales channels they will serve, and include measures on Revenue, Margin, NPS and Staff Engagement.

This role is responsible for delivering end to end ownership & management of non-standard/complex bid responses (generally revenues of circa £2m+), enabling Enterprise to win profitable and sustainable business. This role has the overall accountability for ensuring BT governance is adhered to and risk is managed. As well as driving a great sales experience, this role delivers improved customer experience and directly impacts on the success of the Sales functions within Enterprise

You'll have the following responsibilities

•Own & be accountable for the end to end compilation of non-standard/complex bid responses. Adhere to best practice & take accountability for all documentation pertaining to the bid and governance processes

•Implement approved bid processes & governance to ensure a fully compliant bid response - ensuring appropriate sign offs are obtained throughout

•Drive the development of a winning bid strategy in consultation with sales & the virtual bid team. Facilitate the development of the overall solution to meet customer requirements whilst safeguarding the business

•Proactively set & manage key milestones & deadlines to ensure on time delivery of key actions, including running regular bid calls, hosting workshops, capturing & driving progress on all actions & actively working to remove roadblocks

•Manage bid process to agreed methodology, ensuring quality and tone of bid response is consistent and that appropriate preparation is in place for governance activities

•Ensure risks & issues are identified, managed & mitigated

•Manage virtual teams made up of specialists to effectively manage bid responses to agreed deliverables & timescales

•Provide required input and insight for bid qualification and effective triaging/classification of opportunities

•Lead on lessons learned, providing bid insight & win / loss data, & ensure identified improvements are implemented. Regularly share knowledge to support an environment of continuous learning & improvement

•Complete effective handover to In-life teams

You'll have the following skills & experience

Skills required for the job

•Strong Bid experience - with experience of managing complex bid responses

•Commercial Acumen - knowledge of commercial and customer drivers and requirements. Ability to summarise commercial propositions

•Excellent communication skills - written & verbal to influence, inspire and inform. Ability to listen to other peoples views while having the confidence in own convictions and express own opinion

•Organisation and Communication - possess excellent organisation and communication skills, with proven ability to develop & execute clear plans - resolving challenges / conflict, whilst maintaining high energy

•Stakeholder & virtual team management - ability and gravitas to develop strong Stakeholder engagement at all levels of the organisation. Ability to lead and motivate virtual teams to produce quality submissions

•Risk Management - sound knowledge of risk management and compliance areas and practices. Ability to translate and embed regulations into day-to-day practices

•Professional knowledge - comprehensive knowledge of core end-to-end bid and sales methodologies/processes, capabilities, tools and systems

•Time management & prioritisation - possess excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure, while prioritising and managing multiple activities

Experience you would be expected to have

Mandatory

•Experience in using and understanding of a structured proposal / project management methodology e.g. Shipley/APMP, PRINCE2 (demonstrated by managing a bid or a project from end to end)

•Experience in the utilisation of Salesforce.com

•Experience in establishing and leading virtual teams

•Experiencing in stakeholder engagement at all levels

Preferred

•Bid and/or Project Management Qualification - Shipley APMP, Prince2 or other relevant qualification
