Due to ongoing growth, Facebook office in Cork is currently recruiting for an experienced R&D Hardware Engineer specializing in Bonding Technologies. At Facebook, we are developing the future of AR/VR displays. As an R&D Bonding Engineer, you will play a critical role in a multi-disciplinary team whose charter is to develop new processes to enable the assembly of uLED displays, with a forward vision towards pilot manufacturing. Bonding Engineer Responsibilities

  • For our R&D facilities bonding will play a key role within the process group.

  • Developing bonding processes to support our Architectures with guidance from Device Integration is key to enabling our next generation uLED displays for AR and VR.

  • Work with suppliers to identify and develop bonding equipment with path to scale into manufacturing.

  • Evaluate supplier's capabilities to meet process and equipment needs and establish criteria for meeting those needs.

  • Develop and implement module qualification flows, working with internal technology teams and external foundry and OSAT partners ready for mass production

  • Develop defect libraries and screening techniques.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3+ years of experience in the semiconductor field with a focus on various wafer bonding techniques, processes, and equipment.

  • Bachelor's degree considered with directly relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field with 1-2 years industry experience

  • 6+ years of experience in industry.

  • Experience in heterogeneous, metal-to-metal, temporary bonding, hybrid bonding, high precision aligned bonding.

  • Experience with thin film stress management as it applies to bonding.

  • Experience with bonded wafer characterization methods and techniques

  • Experience with EVG bonding tools.

  • Ability to understand and communicate technical information to non-experts

  • Self-starter with strong analytical and organizational skills.
