Role Overview

The business is growing in size and complexity and has increasingly diverse demands in terms of analysis and reporting. The Commercial Finance team is committed to delivering first-class reporting to deliver insightful and impactful analysis that drives decision-making at director level. This dedicated FP&A Business Analyst joins the team at a time of growth, change and ambition. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a high-profile team that is having a real impact on decision-making across the business.

The Business Analyst will report into the FP&A Finance Manager, sitting within the FP&A team which forms part of the wider Commercial Finance team. The FP&A team is in a unique position to have access to the full company view, operating across all business areas to provide a company-wide picture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the forecast P&Ls, including reconciling and analysing them during forecasts, and maintaining them to reflect changes to the structure of the business

  • Provide analysis by interrogating data and performing reconciliations and comparisons against expectations

  • Administration of the forecast: communicating timelines, deliverables and expectations to our Commercial Finance colleagues and ensuring that these requirements are met by liaising with relevant team members throughout.  

  • Journal posting and balance sheet reconciliations for central accounts

  • Maintenance of the rolling forecast, including regular loading of actuals, and reconciliations to ensure that any changes to expectation are fully understood

  • Working with the finance systems team to maintain the structure of the forecast P&L

  • Ad hoc tasks such as forecasting the company bonus scheme, assessing the impact of employee cost changes, compiling data requests from the business, liaising with external auditors and the internal central reporting team

  • Support the Finance Manager in preparing weekly and monthly reporting packs

  • Support the Finance Manager in providing the framework to administer and report the synergy projects with our parent company, Nikkei

  • There is potential to take on further responsibilities such as business partnering in the future

Skills / Experience

  • A part-qualified accountant with a minimum of two years experience in a finance role

  • Proven analytical skills

  • Excellent attention to detail, coupled with an ability to interrogate and understand the drivers behind the numbers

  • You should be curious, both about the impact of the numbers on the future of the business, and what this means for decision-makers

  • Experienced and confident in advanced Excel, using it to manipulate large data sets. You’ll need the ability to distil and analyse high volumes of information in a clear and insightful way

  • A confident communicator and a resilient team player - you will be constantly liaising with your colleagues in the Commercial Finance team to ensure they meet tough deadlines

  • Good organisation and planning skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a dynamic environment, and an ability to adapt to changing requirements and timelines.

  • Ability to work autonomously, knowing when to escalate any issues

  • Financial Systems literate; experience of Essbase and Oracle is desirable
