The Role

MATCHESFASHION is looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) Principal to join the Data team. As a BI Principal you will operate across multiple data systems, getting global visibility of how MATCHESFASHION functions and serves our customers. Your analytically driven mind will enable the creation of solutions that drive insights, automation and scalability. Utilisation of Microstrategy BI (2020) and our Unified Analytics Platform (Databricks) over our AWS Datalake will be a key part of the role.

Based in our Data Customer team the BI Principal will support the Data Customer Tech Lead to define and adapt standards, patterns, documentation, training materials as well as providing support for technically complex analysis outside of the team's expertise. They will also work across several delivery teams within the Data department providing strategic direction for the Analytics and Business Intelligence roadmap and capabilities.


The BI Principal would be expected to lead semantic dimensional model project design enhancements within MicroStrategy to further enhance or fix the projects in place ensuring our solution remains performant and queries are tuned correctly to a high standard. As well as being part of the support of the MicroStrategy platforms: perform upgrades (patches), support customisations and ensure services are working optimally and service levels maintained.

  • Excellent BI Analyst with advanced MicroStrategy development and admin skills (Object Manager, Command Manager, System Manager, Integrity Manager)
  • Excellent understanding of Data Warehousing, data modelling and wider engineering practices.
  • Excellent skills in SQL and strong statistical background.
  • Familiarity and exposure to working alongside Data Science and Advanced Analytics projects.
  • Able to proactively analyse big data to discover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • An authentic and humble communicator (excellent verbal and written communication skills) comfortable conversing technically with analysts & data engineers and non-technically with business teams.
  • Comfortable within a high paced agile scrum environment and value continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable working with various coding languages (ideally Python or R programming experience)

You are passionate about data and analytics, you possess problem-solving, analytical, and good interpersonal skills. You are adaptable, decisive, detail-orientated, accountable, respectful, and inclusive, and able to parallelise multiple tasks with competing timelines and deliverables.

We are looking for a candidate who can think long term, leading creative and innovation solutions to simplify processes and reduce manual work where there is a clear business or operational value.
