As the successful CAD Specialist, you will be responsible to lead the definition and management of CAD content, translation, documentation and CAD related process compliance. The role itself requires strong technical skills with specific emphasis on CAD and GIS activities including: data management processes, tools, formats, data schemas and the information derived or produced from them. The post holder will be working with the other technical teams in Digital Engineering with a particular focus on GIS, CAD and Asset Information data and technology.

About the role:
  • Lead the development of Specification and Standards in regard to CAD and wider Digital Engineering, including CAD data schemas
  • Define the CAD Data Model
  • Responsible for the management of any data conversion or transformation requirements with emphasis on those between CAD and GIS data sets
  • Responsible for ensuring a consistent approach to data management, translation and conversion across all phases of the programme.
  • Responsible for ensuring technical solutions using HS2 developed technology, de-risk spatial coordination of design and construction data.
  • Responsible for coordinating with equipment and software vendors to be fully compatible with HS2 requirements, specification and standards.
  • Responsible for new and updated CAD software testing, integration and reporting, along with providing support where required.
  • Responsible for promoting, providing training and upskilling material for HS2's Digital Engineering upskilling platform, and delivering presentations to internal and external audiences on relevant technologies.
  • Contribute to the repurpose of data for output, simulation and /or other further functional uses required by HS2
  • Contribute to the management, administration and configuration of the CAD CDE platform.
  • It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.


About You:
  • Skilled in content management and manipulation of CAD and GIS related data including the use of software tools such as FME
  • Data conversion, transformation and analysis
  • Data quality techniques and processes
  • Data Modelling and Management Data Integration
  • Standards and Specifications production Automation
  • CDE System configuration
  • CAD Application understanding
  • Knowledge of design, engineering, CAD and 3D model data
  • Knowledge of data content and production management
  • Knowledge of BIM Processes as outlined in ISO19650 and related industry standards
  • Experience of Software analysis.
  • Experience of industry standard CDE and modelling systems and tools from vendors such as Bentley Systems.
  • Experience of managing large volumes of data
  • Experience with working with open and /or proprietary data formats and schemas such as GML, XML, IFC and DGN or DWG
  • Experience of large construction/infrastructure projects.
