An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly capable and enthusiastic accountant to join the finance team at a high performing NHS organisation that is passionate about putting patients first, always improving and working together. The successful applicant will join a capital team accounting for a capital programme of £60m per annum. The role will offer the opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders and contribute to the financial management of a wide range of important capital projects.

ABOUT THE TEAM

As part of a 75 strong finance team you will be key in delivering the departmental objectives centred around the four key principles of:

- Leaving positive footprints

- Making things work like clockwork

- Having effective 'brakes' (controls) to allow the 'car' to drive faster

- Investing in and supporting people and our workforce

You will become a trusted expert in your field and support the on-going training and development of the finance function in relation to capital accounting.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Your role will involve:

- Taking responsibility for monitoring and reporting on key areas of the trusts capital programme

- Administration of the fixed asset register, ensuing that it reconciles with the general ledger and that the appropriate accounting entries are carried out

- Building relationships with key stakeholders to ensure that the team are aware of capital expenditure projects and can account for them correctly

- Working with the team to develop procedures and controls

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic CCAB qualified or part qualified accountant with experience of management, financial or capital accounting and knowledge of the related accountancy principles, who possesses the following qualities:

- A high level of numeracy and excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and explain technical content

- The ability to work to a high level of accuracy with complex spreadsheets and databases.

- Someone with initiative and a positive attitude who can make a strong contribution to the work of the finance team
