Brief Description

Develop and drive improved predictability and delivery efficiencies through effective portfolio performance measurement, evaluation and intervention activities. Establishing the controls framework and associated activities for a programme / Portfolio of work whilst complying with company and legislation standards and are compliant with Projects Acceleration in a Controlled Environment (PACE).

About the role (External)

Key Accountabilities

1. Direct functional governance and efficient value-adding services across planning, possession planning, controls and information management. Own the continuous improvement strategy and implementation plan.

2. Direct the Capital Delivery governance reporting outputs providing data visibility against performance measures and enabling portfolio decision making.

3. Deliver challenge to all aspects of project/programme/portfolio performance to determine causes of variance from baselines, enforcing the development and management of any corrective action plans

4. Deliver leadership to the Capital delivery Programme in relation to the effective execution of the Project Control and assurance Lifecycle.

5. Direct the integration of the control services within the capital delivery programme / portfolio reviewing the level of service support is suitable to provide confidence in successful deliverability.

6. Develop and Direct the management of and compliance to the change control process within the geographic area minimising the impact of unplanned changes on cost and schedule.

7. Provide co-ordination and visibility of in-year and future projects within the geographic area setting interface management process with stakeholders to support efficient delivery.

8. Direct the content collation and analysis to support governance meetings and provision of data to support decision making in programmes and projects.

9. Direct the provision of Earned Value as required to meet company standards and provide deliverability indicators for the capital delivery programme

10. Lead functional audits and monitor the mobilisation, completion and actions management of level 2 interventions to support programme governance.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

• Knowledge of Programme & Project Management techniques such as (APM; Prince 2; GRIP; MSP etc.).

• Membership of a relevant professional body with Chartered Status

• Comprehensive understanding of programme and project controls processes and systems

• Relevant experience in the successful management, planning and delivery of major projects.

• Experience in change management and systems deployment.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Ability to undertake structured analysis to problems, engage stakeholders and lead the implementation of business-wide solutions.

• Ability to communicate and influence key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation this should include Customers; 3rd party representatives, other business & functional leaders and key support personnel.

• Demonstrable experience of actively building internal and external network to support delivery.

• Demonstrable experience of partnering across functions and boundaries.

• Demonstrable experience of translating business's goals into clear priorities and responsibilities.

• Demonstrable experience of promoting physical and mental well-being and safety of colleagues and of proactively identifying and acting on key business and/ or safety risks.

• Demonstrable experience of managing interrelated and complex issues across business processes and teams.

Desirable

• Knowledge of and experience in rail industry processes.

• Knowledge of Project Management techniques.

• Experience in Power BI

Salary: starting at £65,480 and increasing to £73,665 per annum.
