Job Description

The Cargo team is responsible for defining and delivering Heathrow's cargo strategy to maximise revenue for Heathrow, the UK's largest port by value. The team works with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders across the cargo supply chain, including with Government, driving an average of £23m of direct aeronautical revenue from cargo-only aircraft operations and enabling broader significant revenues of c.£200m from belly hold cargo.

The Cargo Manager leads strategic management of senior cargo stakeholders - including across the wider logistics industry and with Government - and supports leadership of the cargo strategy to create and protect cross-commercial value and grow Heathrow's cargo proposition.

The role holder has a large span of influence and must have strong relationship management, organisational and communication skills. The role requires a strategic and cross-functional focus, with knowledge of airline business models and the cargo supply chain an advantage.

Your role will involve:
  • Building, maturing and owning B2B relationships with internal and external cargo community stakeholders at a senior level, identifying opportunities and influencing in line with strategy to achieve defined outcomes.
  • Developing a wider industry stakeholder network with forwarders, integrators, haulage companies, seaports and industry bodies to grow Heathrow's cargo market share.
  • Representing Heathrow in meetings with Government departments, landing policy asks and enacting associated change, including leading the implementation of efficiency trials.
  • Acting as the business case owner's representative for infrastructure projects in support of the cargo strategy.
  • Utilise commercial intelligence to assist in the leadership and development of the cargo strategy, including supporting the Revenue team on future aeronautical charges.
These skills are essential:
  • Adept at developing strong business relationships in a complex environment, ideally in a customer-facing role such as account management.
  • Skilled at developing and implementing impactful strategy to meet KPIs.
  • Good understanding of Heathrow's strategy and regulation, airlines' business models and objectives and the broader cargo supply chain.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with proven ability to plan and produce high-quality, impactful content suitable for engaging senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • A strong communicator, with high resilience, able to operate autonomously when required.
Ideally, you'll also have:
  • Experience in working with Government

Working Location

Our agile approach offers the opportunity to combine home working with meetings, events and training at the airport. All roles involve some on-site working each week, so you'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
