The Category Manager is part of the wider P&SM organization and executes the agreed common EMEA category strategy on a local level. This includes developing and leveraging local supplier relationships, focusing on the strategic suppliers in priority and qualifying new suppliers.

The Category Manager constitute an important part of the market intelligence of the group category team providing market trends and insights as well as customer needs/insights/feedback. Also, part of a virtual regional team to ensure regional alignment and maximization of supplier value extraction supported by procurement and governance.

What you will enjoy doing to be successful in this role

  • Developing and executing of supplier business plans in line with the agreed common EMEA category strategy.
  • Delivering the Bi-annual supplier/ category market insight
  • Ensuring the forecasted Supplier Sales Revenue and Margin
  • Extracting supplier value (rebate, funding, incoterm, buyback)
  • Sourcing locally within agreed corridor of terms
  • Communicating across all levels of the suppliers' organisations
  • Collaborating across the regional product teams and achieving suppliers KPI's Manage the Product lifecycle of the range.
  • Supporting the business with supplier relationship when required on volume and tender price optimisation for focused customer accounts
  • Developing local supplier marketing plans supported by supplier funding that tie into the overall RS EMEA marketing pack
  • Being responsible for products selections on marketing activities (as well as ensuring pricing, content and stock are good quality)
  • Supporting Inventory to optimize market inventory availability, value and health by supplier and the delivery performance in local markets
  • Developing direct links through supplier e commerce sites to generate incremental digital traffic
  • Working closely with Inventory, pricing, content marketing, logistic, sales and technical to maximise the suppliers' product portfolio and performance
  • Working closely with Marketing to establish effectively targeted campaigns following the group marketing strategy for your suppliers enabling customer acquisition, lead generation and profitable sales growth whilst extracting maximum supplier support
  • Working closely with Pricing to ensure specific resale initiatives are optimised through market and competitor intelligence for your suppliers(heatmap)
  • Developing go to market plan with sales teams (Dual visits, customer acquisition, customer transfer, leads...)

  • Successful track record in supplier/account management or related field
  • Business planning and execution capability
  • A collaborative team player across a business with fast paced, customer driven markets
  • Successful supplier relationship management
  • Ability to work cross functional as well as cross cultural as part of a wider global team
  • Demonstrates an excellent understanding of, and the ability to articulate, the RS Value Proposition
  • Strong commercial acumen and broad interpersonal skills
  • Educated to degree-level or equivalent
  • Positive can-do attitude, takes ownership and very results oriented
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills
  • Change Management experience
  • Understanding of marketing, purchasing and inventory control
  • Operational problem solver and good process management capability
  • Technology experience Influencing without direct responsibility
  • Experience of working with an online digital toolset
  • English language - Full professional proficiency is a must
