The Odney Hotel. Our Place by the River. Our beautiful John Lewis Partnership hotel, set in 130 acres by the River Thames in Cookham, Berkshire offers both character and charm.

You'll be working as part of our talented Catering team to plan, produce and deliver the hotel food offer to our Partners and their family & friends. You'll be adding value to the efficient and profitable running of your department in order to achieve your business and personal objectives, along with those of your team and the hotel.

Set in some of the most beautiful locations in the UK, our John Lewis Partnership hotels are unique in that they are run by Partners for Partners. Each one has its own identity and features, at Odney our guests can have fun by the river, a dip in the pool or a spa treatment in the spa as well as enjoying fantasic food on the terrace, overlooking the river or in the hotel restaurant. What is the role about?
In this role as Chef de Partie , you'll be working as part of our friendly team to ensure the efficient day to day running of the kitchen and to assist in providing a consistently high quality dining experience while maintaining sales, reputation and profit of the kitchen as agreed by the Head Chef.

As the hotel offers a variety of dining and food options to our guests, you'll need to be flexible to work in different areas, if required, and adhering to all health and safety requirements at all times.

The Odney Club has a very close working relationship to the Partnership owned Winter Hill Golf Club and in this role, you'll also have the opportunity to be involved with menu planning and catering for regular events and members functions at the club depending on needs.

What you'll love doing as Chef de Partie in our hotels:
Our Chef de Partie operates as a valued member of our talented and friendly Catering team providing great opportunities to demonstrate your real passion for food and allowing you motivation to invent, produce and present quality dishes in accordance with our hotel offer.

In this role, you'll see your skills be put to great use through being involved in assisting in the day to day running of the kitchen not only by producing agreed menus to a high standard, but through supervising the department when required, providing guidance to the Commis chef, controlling stock and minimising wastage.

What you'll need:

We are looking for someone creative with a professional demeanour who must be able to work under pressure, demonstrating flair and a good palette with experience working in a professional kitchen.

We work to a high standard and as a key part of the team so you will be required to comply with all food safety policies, procedures and practices as essential when working in catering.

What else can you bring?
- City & Guilds 706 1 and 2 or NVQ equivalent.
- Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2.
- Good communication skills and P.C. literate.
