FT Strategies is the FT’s boutique consultancy - leveraging the FT’s expertise to help clients grow their digital revenue and optimise customer engagement. We are looking for an experienced and ambitious individual to join this high growth start-up within the Financial Times.

You will be joining a fast-paced and dynamic work environment as we scale our consulting business. You will be central to that growth, shaping how it succeeds.

You will drive our mission, helping global clients develop digital strategies that transform both their businesses and the customer experience.

We’re looking for an experienced, driven and entrepreneurial Client Development Manager to support the growth of FT Strategies. You will be focused on working with the Management group to build the pipeline and close client engagements. 

Key responsibilities

  • Lead generation activities: research target sectors, identifying opportunities, prospective clients and key individuals within the FTS network and beyond. 

  • Work with Management to outreach to target clients and set-up business development meetings.  

  • Work with the Head of Marketing to maximise engagement with prospective clients through online marketing activities (social campaigns, advertising, email, website) 

  • Support design, set-up and manage virtual BD events / round-tables. 

  • Prepare Management for BD meetings with client and industry research. 

  • Join meetings and support Management in follow-up activities (developing tailored creds decks, further conversations and support solution design and proposal writing.)

  • Iterate client marketing collateral (creds decks, website content) with insight and feedback from client conversations. 

  • Tracking KPIs to help drive progress and accountability and sharing learnings across the team. 

  • Ideate how to improve the BD process and lead generation tactics, experiment with new strategies and measure results. 

  • Engage stakeholders across the Financial Times to identify potential opportunities

Your skills and experience

  • Strong research skills with interest in businesses, specifically the media sector. 

  • Experience in a lead generation role

  • Business development experience; understand the process, tools and techniques

  • Strong communication skills, highly self-motivated working style and passion for sales

  • Experience of client conversations / relationships. 

  • Experience in the proposal writing process 

  • Experience running virtual events.

  • Consultative sales and account management experience. 

  • Experience using sales/CRM systems

  • Experience in client development at a professional services business 

  • Intellectual curiosity, adaptability and strong interpersonal skills


We are looking for someone to join full time and immediately for this role. You will be based remotely at present and then at the Financial Times office in London.

In future, this role likely will require travel to client locations, which may be outside the UK.
