In the UK, E.ON City Energy Solutions is the market leader with over 80 operational sites, 15 under construction and well over 30,000 residential district heating customers.

Right now, we’re looking for a Commercial & Expansion Manager to join our City Energy Engineering and Major Projects Management team in the South West. Here you’ll take lead responsibility for securing the contracts for and managing the expansion of the major district heating networks in the region. Working closely with the General Manager for the South West you will be key in setting the strategic direction for the major infrastructure undertakings.

Responsibilities include:

  • High profile stakeholder engagement.

  • Managing the expansion of the South West Networks including ensuring all cells are developed in accordance with E.ON UK policy and the relevant master agreements.

  • Responsibility with the South West General Manager for the CES South West facilities and key local and national interfaces.

  • Working closely with other E.ON UK teams to monitor and enhance asset value.


The role is both inward and outward facing, representing E.ON with local government, developers, residential customers, commercial customers and the local communities – demonstrating the energy and commitment that E.ON is giving to district heating in the UK.


Here's what you need to have


  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline.

  • Previous proven experience gained in a relevant role.

  • Experience of complex renewable energy schemes in the Domestic and Industrial and Commercial (I&C) sectors.

  • Experience in District Heating projects would be preferred.

  • Strong project management and leadership capabilities.

  • Demonstrable commercial and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent inter-personal, communication, influencing and change management skills, including the ability to challenge processes for continuous improvement.

  • Sound presentation and reporting skills.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and SAP.

  • A flexible approach.

Here’s what else you need to know


The salary range for this role is £56,382 - £71,194.

This role is based in Exeter with travel within the South West region. Further UK wide travel will also be required.

This is a permanent role.

Due to the nature of this role a Criminal Record Check will be required.
