Commercial & Intellectual Property Manager - Band 8B

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial & Intellectual Property Manager to join the Research & Development Team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Commercial & Intellectual Property Manager to provide specialist advice and support to the Research & Development and PathLAKE senior management teams.

This is an exciting post that will support UHCW in achieving its strategic objectives via the provision of comprehensive and efficient intellectual property (IP) management and commercialisation support for UHCW research programmes.

A major such programme is PathLAKE - one of a network of five new Centres of Excellence in digital pathology and/or medical imaging supported by a £50m investment from the Data to Early Diagnosis in Precision Medicine strand of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, managed and delivered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UHCW led a consortium of academic, NHS and industry partners to secure a £15m research award to deliver PathLAKE and position the Trust in the vanguard of digital pathology and artificial intelligence (AI).

The successful candidate will support the delivery of the day to day commercial activities associated with the PathLAKE project and drive delivery of a range of initiatives associated with research. They will have experience in identifying, protecting, and commercially exploiting IP and in developing and maintaining relationships with other organisations within and without the NHS, including the creation of commercial partnerships. They will be required to complete associated project activities by establishing appropriate IP and commercial management frameworks, structures, models and processes and to scope, plan and develop business cases.
