What will you be doing?

You will be the commercial conscience of the Development team, making sure that in all we do we think commercially and strategically. In developing ideas and shaping commercial drivers, it's vital that a strong understanding of current and future customer needs and strategic direction are included. It is critical that we understand the impact of our shops on the lifetime value of customers and holding ourselves to account to ensure we focus proposition development on the most important customer and commercial drivers. You will also be responsible for Macro space allocation across John Lewis - ensuring that we make the very best of our space and plan ahead to drive the value we generate from our shop space.

What you'll have:
  • You'll be a great strategic thinker with commercial acumen.
  • Have a passion for converting insight into recommendations and decision making.
  • You will have the ability to distill complex information and data and present a clear strategic narrative succinctly verbally, written or visually.
  • You'll need great stakeholder management and confidence in influencing at a senior / board level, as well as resilience and tenacity.
What else could you bring?
  • An ability to drive clarity from ambiguity.
  • A great understanding of how retail propositions are developed.
  • A passion for retail and shops.

Duties and Responsibilities

What's the role about?

Ensuring that we drive value from our shops, maximising commercial returns and customer value. The role will fundamentally change our shop development model - moving away from traditional measures of shop development success to a model of driving lifetime value for customers and total 'catchment value' rather than just shop productivity.
