The Tax Protection Taskforce team will sit within Customer Compliance Group. The team have a number of Business Unit Heads who focus on Covid-19 schemes such as the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, Self-Employment Income Support Scheme and Eat Out to Help Out.

You will play a key part in strengthening HMRCs approach to Covid Scheme Compliance. The Compliance Support Team will support the compliance caseworkers in administering compliance reviews and penalties.

You will work collaboratively with compliance caseworkers to progress compliance checks. This includes, but is not limited to,
- Opening and closing compliance cases
- Supporting taxpayer appeals and reviews
- Analysing various sources of information in support of the case
- Accessing HMRC systems and databases e.g. Caseflow
- Providing administrative support to Caseworker teams and managers
- Scheduling casework information
- Use of O365 tools like SharePoint, Teams and Outlook
- Administration of Compliance Penalties
- Ensure that complex queries are escalated, where appropriate

Team members that are moving offices as a result of the Locations Programme will be entitled to a Moves Adjustment Payment for three years where they incur additional costs. This is calculated based on the difference between the costs of travelling to and from the new and old office, over a weekly period. As part the application process you will be asked to provide your employment history under the section headed CV. It is important to note that we do not expect you to complete the CV in full, as the employment history is the only section of the CV we need you to complete.

After submission of your short application form you will be invited to complete a Civil Service Judgement Test (CSJT). We recommend you have access to a desktop computer or laptop and somewhere quiet to do this.

The online test for this vacancy is not timed and there are no restrictions on how long you take to complete it, but it must be fully submitted before 11:30am on 15/08/2021. This is important as we dont want you to miss out on your opportunity. Please remember that you will need to complete the remainder of your application once you have taken your test if you meet the minimum required pass mark, so please ensure that you allow sufficient time for this before the deadline. Please note: there will be no technical help or guaranteed assistance with online tests after 8:00am on 15/08/2021. If you fail to complete the online test before the deadline your application will be withdrawn.

Guidance for the test will be available when you are invited to take the test. The tests are administered online and accessed via the CS Jobs website.

If you successfully pass the test, you will be invited to complete the final stage of the application. At this stage you will also be asked to complete separate 250-word statements addressing the specified behaviours.

If a large number of applications are received an initial sift will take place against the lead behaviour - Managing a Quality Service.

At full sift all behaviour statements will be assessed, with successful applicants invited to interview.

Important: We are recruiting a large number of employees for our customer service team for over the next 12 months. Following the governments latest social distancing measures, we are working to keep disruption to a minimum. We have implemented new ways of working to support our recruitment, however this may mean it runs over a longer period to manage the new process carefully.

If you are invited to a remote interview it will be via a video interviewing platform called Outmatch. The remote interview uses a pre-recorded set of questions to which you can record your answers in the comfort of your own home. It also means you can do your interview when it's convenient to you, just make sure you complete it before the deadline. Please refer to the candidate pack for further information including ID documentation you will need to provide at your interview. Please note, having the right ID will help speed the recruitment process up.

We know that during these uncertain times, it may be difficult to get hold of the required documents in time, so allowances in some circumstances will be considered. Therefore, we would still want you to take part in your interview as we wouldnt want you to miss out on this fantastic opportunity.

During the remote interview, you will be asked behaviour-based questions to explore in detail what you are capable of.

Security Update

Successful candidates must pass a Disclosure and Barring Security Check. Please note that HMRC have an exemption under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, which enables us to make enquiries about both unspent and spent convictions.

HM Revenue and Customs is currently going through an exciting ten-year transformation programme to create a tax authority fit for the future. As part of this, we are committed to providing high-quality jobs and giving employees a great place to work, whichever location you work from.

HM Revenue and Customs has made significant progress with its plans to locate in 13 large, modern, flexible offices, equipped with high-speed digital infrastructure supporting improved customer service and compliance activity. These collaborative workspaces will enable smarter working and great training and development facilities, allowing for the sharing of expertise, local training, promotion, and provide great ongoing career development opportunities.

These offices will be located in central locations in the following towns and cities close to accessible transport links: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Newcastle, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Croydon and Stratford. Our Regional Centres in Croydon, Bristol and Belfast are already operational.

In addition, there will also be a small number of specialist sites where the work cannot be done anywhere else, in Gartcosh (near Glasgow), Telford, Ipswich, Worthing and Dover, as well as our headquarters in central London. Whats more, our Welsh language service has people located in Porthmadog, as well as Cardiff.

We are letting you know about our future plans because if you are recruited into an office that is not one of these locations, you will be expected, subject to HM Revenue and Customs applicable policies, to move to one of these locations in the future. In some cases, this will be via one of our nine transitional sites.

If you are not a current civil servant, you will not be eligible for financial assistance for your move to the regional centre or a transitional or specialist site.

If you are a current HM Revenue and Customs employee and you joined us through an advert that was advertised on or after 11/01/2017, you will not be eligible for financial assistance for your move to a regional centre, a transitional site or a specialist one. Terms and Conditions

This means that HMRC will adopt new terms and conditions for all colleagues as part of a multi-year pay deal and contract offer, the pay deal period is 01 June 2020 31st May 2023 and terms and conditions changes take place from the 01 June 2021 onwards.
