DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYVeolia North America, the world’s leading environmental services company, has an exciting internship opportunity within the communications department based in the heart of Boston’s financial district. If you are curious, digitally savvy, passionate about the environment and interested in pursuing a career in communications this is a fantastic opportunity. This intern will focus on a mix of internal and external communications projects, including the design, build and company-wide roll out of a new LumApps intranet. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, organized and provide support to the communications team on a variety of initiatives. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / JOB DUTIES Support key projects across the corporate communications function as needed including the launch of a new intranet as a key driver for employee engagement. Assist with the development of engaging content and distribution across social channels. Participate in cross team and functional meetings to move projects forward. Become an integral part of the team launching a new intranet for North American employee base. Responsibilities include: Establish and gather intranet page design and content requirements from internal stakeholdersDesign page templates to present information is effective and engaging manner - From time to time this will include creating custom pages, showcasing organizational charts and other small design requirements Build pages and widgets in LumApps on the new LumApps portalAdvance the search functionality with the portal through page “tags” and categorising in the LumApps backendOther duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EXPERIENCEEducational BackgroundOngoing Bachelor degree in Business, Communications or journalism from an accredited universityJob Skills/CharacteristicsGenuine desire to learn and become part of the team is essentialStrong oral and written communication skills Professional demeanorAbility to problem-solve and use analytical abilitiesAbility to quickly understand, summarize and translate ideas into action Ability to generate and improve creative content in a clear and concise mannerAbility to work both independently and on a team;Excellent internal customer service approachAbility to work under pressure and on short deadlinesExperience/KnowledgeBasic knowledge of Google Suite tools — full training will be providedBasic knowledge of LumApps platform — full training will be providedExperience in a professional environment a plus but not required. WORK ENVIRONMENTBased in Corporate Headquarters in the heart of the financial district in Boston. Close to MBTA. Ability to work a 9a.m. to 5p.m. schedule in the office at 53 State Street for the duration of the internship.
QualificationsRequirements:Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university with a declared major in the Liberal Arts, Communications or Marketing. Must be currently enrolled and/or taking classes towards a degree or diploma beyond high school on at least a part-time basis.Must have a current cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher Additional Qualifications:Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsExcellent time management skillsProficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and social media sites. Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality Preferred:A candidate seeking a degree in Liberal Arts, Communications or MarketingPreference is given to candidates entering/following senior year with proven writing experience
