As Data Governance Manager and one of Eurostar's Data Privacy Officers you'll act as the guardian of all things data at Eurostar, ensuring that Eurostar have the right processes and controls in place to meet business needs and all relevant data protection legislation including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This role will provide expertise in all data protection matters globally and act as the key contact point for data subjects and the supervisory authorities.

Reporting into the Head of Marketing, this role is responsible for acting as a focal point for the wider business around data governance and data privacy, providing training and support to departments across the business and acting as a catalyst to ensure that data related projects are aligned to drive maximum value to the business.

This is a 12 months Fixed-Term Contract, Part-Time (4 days/week) to be based in our King's Cross Office (possibility of remote working).


We're looking for someone who...

•Acts as the guardian of data at Eurostar, building out a data governance framework that is followed across the business ensuring the quality, availability, usability, integrity and security of any data stored

•Ensures that Eurostar have the right processes, policies and controls in place to meet all relevant data protection legislation including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), provides expertise in data protection matters and acts as the key contact point for data subjects and the supervisory authorities

•Leads and advises business teams on internal data governance alongside Legal to ensure that Eurostar complies at all times with data protection requirements and legislation including GDPR

•Works with Information Systems and business teams to ensure that we have a clear and up to date view of the data that we capture and store across the business including details as to data flows between systems, rules around deletion of data and areas where pseudonymisation or obfuscation of any personal data is required

•Plans out a roadmap for conducting regular data audits internally to ensure compliance and address potential issues proactively

•Educates Eurostar and its employees about obligations to comply with all relevant data protection legislation including GDPR

•Oversees responses to data subject requests to ensure that their rights are honoured and that clear processes are in place to ensure that these requests are handled in a clear and consistent manner

•Ensures solutions align with the Data Governance design and industry best practices (including regulation in EU) as well as allowing continuous improvement practices for the future

•Takes responsibility as one of Eurostar's Data Privacy Officers providing leadership and guidance around Data Protection

You'll need...

•Data and privacy experience

•To be educated to degree level in law, compliance or similar

•Good knowledge of data governance having previously worked in a data governance, data protection or data compliance role

•Proven record of developing good business relationships and strong influencing skills internally and externally at all levels

•To be a strong communicator with a passion to sell the data message and best practice

•The ability to understand complexity and help teams and peers find new approaches to problem solving and cause resolution

•To think and work strategically and challenge current operational thinking

•Experience in working with large and complex databases

•To understand data structure and hierarchy (IT side)

•Exposure to commercial environments and pressures

Desirable Experience:

•Certification in European data protection and privacy programme (CIPM / CIPP/E)

•Proficient in various analytical techniques: Excel, SQL and similar

•Good knowledge of Tableau, Power BI or similar tools
