DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

All 4 is Channel 4's video-on-demand service, home to original and exclusive shows, box sets of iconic series, live and catch up TV from Channel 4, as well as shows from key content partnerships. It reaches over 5 million monthly users and is used by over half of all 16-34s in the UK. The All 4 Product team's mission is to ensure that All 4 is best way to consume shows from Channel 4.

This role will sit in the Experimentation & Analytics team, who feed into a wide range of projects, all with the aim of translating data into meaningful stories to impact a wide range of business decisions. This covers anything from how the All 4 homepage looks, to which shows we should make.

JOB PURPOSE

To support the Analytics team, feeding data, problem solving and insight to the team and wider stakeholders around Channel 4.

This role isn't specifically supporting one particular area or department; it will involve working across a varied set of projects and doing a wide range of analysis. Examples include producing dashboard reports, exploring the results of paid social experiments, or deciding on the best metrics to determine whether a title was a success or not. This person will be responsible for turning raw data into tangible, interesting information that helps our colleagues in all departments to make decisions.

In a nutshell, someone who is brilliant with data, and is passionate about applying that skill to a wide range of new and often complex projects. You'll be motivated to make All 4 the best it can be, but you'll also have the enthusiasm and potential to develop and progress as the product grows.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyse, write up and present data to explain how All 4 is performing well, and what could be improved
  • Run analysis on a wide range of experiments and feed results back to stakeholders in a clear, engaging way
  • Create and maintain excellent Tableau dashboards to share information seamlessly across the channel
  • Analyse, write up and present data to explain what's doing well on All 4 and what could be improved
  • Build strong relationships across the business to make sure that analysis is an on-going, iterative process, and that we fully understand requirements
  • Respond to diverse and often complex ad hoc questions from all areas of the business, including Strategy, Marketing, Product, Commissioning, Scheduling, and Finance
  • Become an expert on all behavioural data we collect, help the team to look at existing data in new ways and to explore new data sources
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • An enthusiastic approach to problem solving, excited about getting stuck into new tasks that will require creative solutions
  • An inquisitive and analytical mind-set. Excited about learning new skills, trying new things, growing and developing with the role
  • Strong data manipulation skills and experience, comfortable running complex queries and creating new views on the data
  • Experience working with digital content and data visualisation software
  • A solid understanding of statistical methods and how to apply them in real life situations
  • A natural at analysing data; providing simple answers to complex questions all within relatively short timeframes
  • Good communication skills (verbal, written and presentational) - the ability to explain complex information in simple terms
  • Good interpersonal skills and willingness to build relationships with people from a wide range of working environments
  • Good commercial awareness with the ability to prioritise competing demands
  • Close attention to detail, thoroughness and accuracy
  • A passion for TV, and particularly Channel 4's remit
BONUS SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • You might have a degree in a numeric field, or other learning to an equivalent level in a numerical or statistical field.
  • Data visualisation software such as Tableau
  • Experience or an understanding of Adobe Analytics
  • Microsoft Office, mainly Excel & PowerPoint
  • SQL Programming language
  • R/Python open-source programming language
