The Director of Analytics Engineering will play a fundamental role in shaping the direction of our Business Intelligence function, focusing primarily on the enablement of other Checkout teams to self-serve data. You will be responsible for a team of Analytics Engineers which will ensure our Data Warehouse models are developed to a high-standard, modelled according to business definitions, documented, catalogued, tested and structured in a way which will leverage our BI platform (Looker) in the best way possible to enable other teams to self-serve data.

Key Responsibilities:
    • Lead the strategy/mission of our Self-Serve function.
    • Establish a roadmap, OKRs and KPIs, focused on outcomes, which will allow us to achieve our goals/mission.
    • Develop relationships with senior stakeholders, promoting the use of analytics and data-led thinking across the business, measured by adoption of our Business Intelligence platform.
    • Lead, manage and mentor a team of Analytics Engineers, ensuring they are growing in their careers and their work has the maximum impact.
    • Own the development, architecture and governance of our Data Warehouse, data models and tooling. Ensure our Data Warehouse ELT pipelines are designed to high technical standards.
    • Be a subject matter expert in our data sets, metrics, dimensions and reporting/Business Intelligence stack (Looker)

About You:
    • 5+ years leading an Analytics Engineering/BI Dev function in a fast-paced environment.
    • Experience in Data Warehousing and self-serve analytics.
    • An analytical and results-driven mindset.
    • Excellent, hands-on SQL skills. Coding skills are desirable.
    • Experience with MPP databases, preferably Snowflake.
    • Experience with SDLC tooling and processes within the context of a Data Engineering function: git, CI/CD, etc.
    • Experience designing and implementing ELT pipelines (we use dbt).
    • Experience with at least one cloud-based Business Intelligence platform (we use Looker).
