Facebook designs, develops, and builds all its own AR\VR and Portal HW products. The Strategic Sourcing team is responsible for spends from raw materials, to the individual components on a board, to the final consumer end product. The team owns the commercial growth strategy and business relationships with various suppliers and manufacturers. The sourcing team moves fast and leverages key partnerships to drive technical innovation, high quality standards and cost-savings via a customized supply chain. Facebook is seeking a leader that creates disruptive value by influencing the product definitions, designs, and specifications for our organization, and manufacturing of our AR\VR, Wearable, and Portal hardware. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing across our ecosystem, including the commercial, operational and technical performance of our technology and supplier base. Together with your team and numerous internal partners, you will be responsible for quality, product and material availability, and cost that spans the Devices space.

  • Own and perform tech transfer into suppliers and elevating supplier's technology capabilities.
  • Work with engineering team to engineer manufacturing and process technology solutions that best aligns with our technology partners
  • Support and influence HWD engineering team in new technology scoping effort with potential optical/materials/equipment partners
  • Be at the forefront of evaluating new optical technology and materials that enables MP scalability with most optimum Total Cost of Ownership.
  • Own supply and relationship with FB supply base to ensure best-in-class cost, quality, delivery, and flexibility can be achieved.
  • Champion factory onsite development activities, ramp, sustaining efforts, and optimize EOL
  • Lead and advance the Sourcing team. Build, recruit, mentor, and empower the team to reach their best potential and ensure well-being of the team.
  • Develop, optimize operation processes to upscale the operational efficiency
  • Be the trusted advisor/partner to XFN teams and be the effective escalation point both internally and externally
  • Develop overall vision, strategy and execution plan for the Optics, Optical modules, Cameras, 3D Projectors sourcing function. Drive an integrated long-term supplier development approach focused on delivering world class quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Actively engage and influence new technology exploration, collaborate with XFN partners on creating a long-term Technology Roadmap mapping closely with Product Roadmaps, and advise/recommend to the executive team a clear partner/supplier strategy.
  • Develop, manage and refresh individual and customized Optics technology, Architecture and commodity sourcing strategies for each actively managed technology.
  • Develop deep technical and commercial relationships with executive management at suppliers.
  • Perform Value Engineering -2nd source qualification, alternate materials/process eval/qual, and other cost reduction initiative at the material/manufacturing level
  • Influence supplier technology roadmaps and create internal disruptive value-add to ensure Facebook's system architecture and commercial requirements are met.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (i.e., PM, engineering, quality, Tech Ops, logistics, etc.) to continuously improve overall system-level landed cost and identify strategic trends in Facebook's design practices that will have an impact on procurement.
  • Influence engineering and architecture teams for NPI development strategy and implementation, optimizing design/materials/process selection to drive lowest cost, industry leading quality, and continuity of predictable supply.
  • Lead Total Cost Reduction program to ensure the lowest possible total cost, including product cost, transportation cost, inventory cost, and cost of quality.
  • Develop commodity supplier sourcing strategy ensuring the supplier is capable of meeting Facebook's current and future technical and business requirements.
  • Continually benchmark the industry to monitor technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into the Facebook supply chain, including diversity and carbon footprint management
  • Drive Early Supplier Involvement initiatives to ensure our suppliers are proactively providing input into new product designs and future product roadmaps.

  • 12+ years of sourcing, procurement, operation experience in Electronics Category and technology management, including demonstrated experience managing overall supplier performance.
  • Engineering or technical BS degree.
  • Proven record in developing/leading the sourcing strategies and supply chain bring up for high volume & complex components
  • Proven record of managing C level strategic relationship and industry networking
  • Proven record of influencing supplier's investment decisions in pursuing programs in large or incubation to scale
  • Experience working in enterprises with hardware portfolio.
  • Experience in setting up, running, and optimizing a global, outsourced manufacturing supply chain.
  • Demonstrated experience in hiring, training and developing sourcing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with and establishing commercial and technical relationships with senior management at suppliers.
  • Superior program management adherence experiences in the consumer electronics market, in-factory experience preferred.
  • Deliver best in class total cost of ownership (TCO), continuity of supply (COS), and business relationship management, passionate about opportunities to establish new approach to sourcing.
  • Expertise in financial statement analysis to derive should-cost models and cost competitiveness/financial strengths of suppliers, as well as gathering market intelligence.
  • Relentless drive to overachieve and no-excuses professional, making the most of resources available, and a team player who can roll-up her/his sleeves to get the job done.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically but detailed oriented to support ideology with facts and data.
  • Ability to articulate points of view with executive management but execute plans when directed. Expertise in supplier evaluation/selection, should cost models, contract negotiation and supply base management.
  • Ability to travel extensively on short notice.

  • Advanced engineering degree, Phd, and/or MBA.
  • Ability to move seamlessly from strategy to execution and deliver tangible results.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, build consensus and make key strategic decisions.
  • Ability to work across all layers of the organization, particularly with cross-functional teams, in a fast-paced environment.
