We are recruiting an economist to join our team to conduct quantitative analyses in the fields of employment, labour markets, education, health and social policy. This role involves carrying out analysis of data from both survey and administrative sources to estimate the causal impact of public policy changes and associated costs and benefits. Typically, projects estimate the effectiveness of programmes designed to overcome barriers to labour market participation and reduce inequality. The job involves carrying out the following activities:
■ Contributing to the IES programme on applied econometrics internally and representing the Institute at external events.
■ Developing and preparing project proposals to generate income.
■ Managing and delivering small and medium-sized projects or discrete components of larger projects with minimal support, against agreed project plans.
■ Delivering work to a high level of quality and accuracy, cost-effectively and with minimal supervision.
■ Producing project reports to final draft quality and presenting work to clients and other external audiences.
Identifying and participating in opportunities for personal development.
The successful candidate will be a highly competent quantitative researcher, with a good understanding of applied research methods and a strong track-record in using a range of research techniques to a high standard. They will have the ability to lead project teams and work closely with clients.
