Duties & Responsibilities
Following internal promotion we are recruiting for the role which is known internally as Personnel Policy and Advice Specialist. At the core of the role is enhancing line manager capability.A high degree of integrity and influence are needed to question, coach and advise over the phone. The ability to listen well, quickly build rapport and instill trust in the caller are vital. Specialists need to be able to offer options, pointing out the risks involved where required and supply the caller with the relevant information enabling them to make well informed judgement based decisions. The role requires of practical advice and guidance to Partners and managers at all levels.Ensuring line manager capability is enhanced through judgement led advice to ensure Partnership policy is followed and that managers actions are also legally compliant. The John Lewis Partnership Personnel Policy and Advice Department offer support and guidance to all 90,000 Partners with relation to our Policies and Disciplinary & Grievance The application of knowledge relating to employment law and our own internal Policies is used to guide and coach Partners and Line Managers.

Job Requirements
This role is mainly telephone based in a fast paced and demanding environment. The job holder will need to be able to capture the details of the case on the logging system at the same time as discussing the case so would suit an individual who is able to multi-task, think on their feet and record information accurately. Established team members also support business leaders and change management programmes to ensure Partnership Policies are applied in conjunction with employment law. A good level of literacy is essential. The job requires keeping up to date on internal policies and changing employment legislation and you should be willing to work for employment law qualifications within this role You will demonstrate an ability to maintain an in-depth knowledge of own area as well as basic knowledge of other disciplines. Required essential experience skills and qualifications
- Studying towards a CIPD or Diploma in HR Management - GCSE or equivalent (incl. English and maths) - Proven team working skills - Proven capacity to influence others

Required desired experience skills and qualifications
