Employment Counsel at :

is seeking a talented Employment Counsel to join our Legal team in London. As Employment Counsel you will work closely with our People team but also with colleagues across the business to take a collaborative approach to solving complex legal challenges.

The successful candidate will be able to handle a busy workload with minimal supervision, demonstrating excellent critical judgement, quick thinking and agility. This is a great opportunity to work on a broad range of projects across multiple jurisdictions and play a key role in supporting the company's rapid growth.

You will be joining an expanding team in one of Europe's most valuable fintechs. Our mission is to be a legal team that exceeds expectations across the board, providing pragmatic and commercially focused advice, finding creative solutions to manage risk and becoming trusted advisers to our colleagues in the business.

About You:
    • English qualified employment lawyer (6-10 PQE) with strong post-qualification experience either in-house or in private practice
    • Previous fintech, payments, software, e-commerce and/or bank experience is desirable but not essential
    • Experience working in a start up or other fast-paced and dynamic environment is desirable but not essential

      Extra marks if you have:
    • experience working internationally and on a variety of cross-border matters
    • dual qualification in an overseas jurisdiction
    • incentives and benefits experience

      You will need:
    • Excellent time management skills and experience managing a diverse workload and competing stakeholder demands
    • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as needed, flexing the approach as the matter requires
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate and explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely
    • Enthusiasm for new challenges and working with a range of different stakeholders

What you will be doing:
    • This role is based in London at our global head office and sits within the corporate & group central functions team within our Legal department
    • You will be the group's first employment counsel globally
    • You will handle a wide variety of employment matters including:
      - all business as usual workstreams (employment documentation, policies, pensions & benefits etc)

      - employee share schemes

      - contentious advice

      - all employment support on our international expansion workstream
    • You will keep up to date on employment law developments in the countries we operate in and work with our People colleagues (and local external counsel, as needed) to manage legal risk
    • You will help put in place and improve existing processes and policies across the group
    • You will help the business continue to expand internationally; researching and evaluating new territories and providing creative, proactive and results orientated advice
