As an Engagement Manager working in the People and Organisations Development team (Human Resources), you will lead on the development, implementation and measurement of an effective employee engagement framework to support the goals and vision of our People Strategy and Operating Plan. Helping to make HS2 a great place to work, the role is accountable for delivering effective strategies and interventions that engage and inspire employees, embedding an employee experience focus and measuring effectiveness of interventions. You will also be required to run the engagement survey and measure and align cultural interventions across the organisation and supply chain, where appropriate.

About the role:
  • Design and maintain an effective employee engagement framework to support the goals and vision of our People Strategy and Operating Plan.
  • Monitor employee engagement through Employee Surveys and design interventions that support teams across the business to meet engagement targets.
  • Introduce and deliver innovative and best practice solutions to continually increase employee engagement, taking into consideration the needs of all parts of the business.
  • Work collaboratively with the HR team to analyse onboarding and exit data, recommending and leading on intervention to address retention issues.
  • Oversee the Values Awards process.
  • Working with the H & S and HR teams to develop a Health & Well-being Strategy and implement Health & Well-being initiatives.
  • Promote the HS2 brand by managing accreditations and recognition through external awards.
  • Work with the communications team to ensure our communications engage our diverse workforce, celebrate success and recognise and thank our colleagues.
  • Manage and develop employee relations pertaining to the engagement strategy, working closely with the ER team.
  • Support Managers and colleagues through change initiatives including new Ways of Working, to ensure the concerns of colleagues are addressed and they feel fully supported.
  • Drive and deliver key engagement outcomes including: Employee engagement targets, targeted accreditations and awards are achieved, staff representatives are engaged.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and alignment with core stakeholders and interfaces across HS2 including employee groups, internal communications and wellbeing and safety.
  • Work with the Data and MI team on analysis of staff survey results, exit interview data and other people analytics, so as to be able to communicate outcomes and insights generated.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.


About You:
  • Experience of leading and designing engagement strategies and frameworks in Human Resources;
  • Experience of design of engagement surveys and strategies;
  • Experience of engaging and communicating to support complex organisational change;
  • Experience of managing programme cohorts and facilitation - including the ability to coordinate multiple activities with differing stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of organisational development, including employee engagement strategies, culture initiatives and and interventions.
