E.ON is an international privately-owned energy supplier which is focused on renewables, energy networks and customer energy solutions, which are the building blocks of the new energy world. As part of the E.ON UK business, the Digital Technology function drives and delivers the IT strategy. Within this we have recently established a Technology Strategy team. Consisting of strategic partners, enterprise architects, solution architect's and data guru's we cover a wide spectrum to understand our business to design and apply leading edge technology and insights.

We have an exciting opportunity for a number of Enterprise Architects to join our Technology Strategy team.. You will be accountable for the development of the Enterprise Architecture and strategies that align with both the E.ON UK business functional strategies and E.ON group IT strategy and policies.

You'll need to have excellent stakeholder management skills as you develop an understanding of the people, processes, information, and technology within the enterprise, and their relationships to one another.

You'll be an experienced and capable individual having gained this experience within a corporate environment on a large scale as we'll look to you to drive consistent standards, governance, tools, techniques and approaches throughout the function.

You will also have the opportunity to offer support, mentoring and coaching for immediate colleagues and those in the wider function. Willingly share knowledge to improve the collective and overall purpose of Digital Technology.

Challenging the status quo is key You'll never get bored, you'll always be learning- as this role is such a variety you'll never have two days the same. You'll support our whole business unit within the UK on a wide range of IT solutions.

What we need from you

  • At least 3 years relevant experience in Enterprise Architecture
  • Experience of leading a digital architecture transformation
  • Experience of working within a large, complex, international organisation
  • In-depth technical knowledge of a wide range of current and emerging digital technologies.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience of shaping, motivating and driving change
  • Experience communicating with and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Experience in vendor selection and management
  • Demonstrable expertise in problem decomposition
  • Ability to translate business strategy into technical strategies
  • An appreciation of architecture development methodologies including TOGAF and Zachmann, and their application in the "real world"
  • Experience participating in architecture reviews
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details in non-technical terms, influence senior stakeholders, facilitate workshops and carry out presentations in a confident manner.
  • Mentoring and coaching skills to enhance the architecture capability within the team and across the function
  • Ability to understand the political sensitivities of a complex business, and how to navigate these to ensure suitable outcomes for the organisation
  • Ability to understand the big picture and short term implications of decisions, with the ability to reconcile both to organisational aims
  • Experience of working with architecture modelling tools.


  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
  • An understanding of the energy sector in terms of structure, regulatory environment and the short and long-term issues affecting the industry
  • Experience of supplier liaison where development projects involve 3rd parties / outsourced providers
  • Experience working in an international environment
