Job Title - Waste Collections Manager
Salary - £35,000 - £38,000 per annum DOE plus Veolia benefits *listed below
Location - Veolia Camden
Hours - Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
This role requires the post-holder to work every 4th weekend (both Saturday and Sunday), payment of which is included in the salary above.
What you’ll do
The Waste Collections Manager is responsible for the operational service in the designated area/depot, ensuring that the contract objectives of the service are met, whilst focusing on the Health and Safety of both the operatives and the general public.
You will be responsible for ensuring a robust sustainable safety culture within the contract which protects our employees and customers and significantly improves overall safety performance through compliance with company standards and relevant legislation. You will promote personal ownership, undertaking risk assessments, maintaining accurate records, monitoring checks (vehicles, PPE etc.) and timely accident investigations. You will also pay particular attention to the security measures required for the depots, vehicles, equipment and stores.
The Waste Collections Manager will lead the day to day area operations whilst on shift, developing an engaged and motivated team that consistently meets operational and performance requirements, customer expectations and the business challenges. You will deliver a high profile management style, being visible in your area, monitoring standards, talking to customers (such as council officers, businesses, residents and the general public) and building relationships.
You will develop and maintain a strong partnership relationship with the Client team, through
regular meetings and updates and working collaboratively to resolve any problems that arise. You will develop the operational team to ensure that all staff possesses the skills required to meet our business and customers’ requirements and maintain accurate and auditable records on all systems relating to the service delivery.
You will continuously review and analyse operational data/service information to ensure that excellence in service delivery is maintained to maximum effectiveness, whilst building a culture of continuous improvement in the team to maximise contract performance, profitability and quality. You will also be responsible for all people management activities of the operational team including welfare, performance, attendance, disciplines, grievances and
training dealing with all matters in an effective, appropriate and timely manner.
The experience you will need
Experience in working with Local Authority clients.
Attendance of regular meetings with the local client and their SAMO's (Senior Area Monitoring Officers).
Ability to engage with local residents on collections issues and to work with the local client and SAMO's on resolutions.
Ability to communicate effectively via mobile calls and emails to the local client, SAMO's and management etc.
Ability to communicate and effectively manage crews via mobile devices and apps.
Good knowledge and background on Health and Safety in the waste collections environment.
Familiar with the HSE safety guidelines and requirements.
Ability to train staff on safe working practices.
Flexibility to work varied hours Monday to Sunday to support and manage the collections service.
Ability to audit crews by carrying out Gate Checks, Operational Monitoring checks as and when required.
Experience with working on the Echo System and Pronto Forms.
Driving class 2 licence and valid CPC.
Excellent local knowledge of Camden Borough.
Experience working with Commercial and Municipal Operations.

Reporting to Alperton Depot (HA0 1ES) however required to conduct Operational Monitoring within the Camden Borough regularly
