The Equipment Superintendent is responsible for evaluating equipment daily inspections, scheduling, tracking and managing required maintenance and repairs; negotiating third party repairs and warrantee work, managing inventory of parts and materials required for equipment operation. In addition, they are responsible for the strict adherence to Skanska's Safety and Equipment/Crane corporate policies and programs.

What you will do:
  • Responsible for the safety of all assigned employees and subcontractors to esnure the safe execution of all activities, including the strict adherence to company safety policies and programs through the communication and enforcement of the Skanska Safety and Health Management Program, including the ability to independently stop work for a safety violation or suspected safety violation;
  • Attend and participate in project meetings;
  • Supervise and direct employees assigned to the equipment department, both craft and salaried;
  • Ensure equipment department has the proper tools and equipment to perform duties;
  • Evaluate and track Daily Equipment Inspections;
  • Schedule Monthly and Annual Crane Inspections;
  • Responsible for the assembly, disassembly and certifications for cranes;
  • Responsible for the maintenance and inspection of all floating equipment;
  • Schedule and prioritize repair work, engage third parties when needed;
  • Communicate with Skanska's Equipment Yard equipment status (hours, inspections, and reports);
  • Maintain onsite records as per company and OSHA requirements;
  • Responsible for the Certifying that operators are competent to operate specific equipment;
  • Perform equipment audits to ensure the proper operation and care of the equipment;
  • Manage purchase of parts and supplies for the operation of the equipment and track inventory;
  • Responsible for the storage, disposal, and use of hazardous materials and spill prevention;
  • Manage Project operating budget and billings;
  • Negotiate / secure equipment purchase and rental;
  • Perform on hire and off hire documentation for all equipment;
  • Interface with the site Management Team to schedule equipment down times;
  • Manage Lease plan for company vehicles and monitor gas cards;
  • Dispose of equipment;
  • Audit equipment utilization and performance.
We're Looking For:
  • Strong leadership qualities;
  • 10 - 20 years in heavy equipment / construction industry;
  • 5 years equipment/ fleet management experience (Minimum 20M Fleet);
  • Marine Fleet Management including USCG/USACE Compliance;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to perform financial analysis and present findings;
  • Strong computer skills; including Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
