Over the past 15 years, our Sustainability & Climate Change team has developed a reputation as a hub for innovation, digital transformation and sustainability strategy to support our clients as they transition toward net zero and a more sustainable economy.

We are a growing team of leading thinkers and action-oriented consultants driving improvements across the economy in all manner of sustainable practices, who are vital to the delivery of our Firm's purpose; "To build trust in society and solve important problems".

There is now an opportunity to join this team as an Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) specialist to support our clients transition to more environmentally and socially responsible business practices.

It is expected that successful applicants will supplement our existing team skill set by bringing deep client / sector knowledge as well as exceptional technical capabilities in one or more of the fields of ESG, sustainability strategy, and environmental & social impact. We work most actively with private equity (including private equity backed businesses) and across private sectors. Applicants with a broad sector expertise are welcome.

We also work extensively with other PwC lines of service. An important part of this role will be to support colleagues with embedding ESG into the firm's wider service offerings, in order to drive positive impact at scale. Because of this, experience with broader business strategy and consulting engagements including transaction services, audit, risk management and capital market advisory will be valued.

In addition to client responsibilities, this role provides senior level support to our practice leadership as well as guiding the development of junior colleagues across the team.

As a Manager within our practice, your responsibilities will include:
  • Building and developing relationships with clients, supporting business development and sales activity including proposal writing and pitching our ESG related solutions to potential clients;
  • Leading delivery of client engagements for clients taking ownership of all aspects of delivery and programme management;
  • Delivering excellent project outcomes for both clients and the Firm on engagements, monitoring commercial performance and quality control;
  • Supporting the development of propositions, thought leadership and digital assets to support our business development and brand positioning;
  • Acting as an internal advisor to colleagues across the firm on relevant topics of ESG and sustainability, supporting cross function alignment, knowledge sharing and go-to-market activities as required;
  • Continuous personal and professional development to maintain an up to date knowledge of the market, industry and topic;
  • Supporting the development of colleagues through knowledge share, mentoring and coaching.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • We expect that you will be suitably qualified to apply for this role through either a relevant academic qualification or extensive relevant experience;
  • Sales origination, commercial acumen and strong programme and/or project management skills;
  • Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and problem solving abilities;
  • Ability to lead and/or work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Strong personal initiative, agility and resourcefulness.

Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Deep sector experience in private equity (including private equity backed businesses) and across private sectors;
  • Experience with broader business strategy and consulting engagements including transaction services, audit, risk management and capital market advisory;
  • An ability to analyse strategic, operational, risk and financial implications of sustainability trends and translate these into commercial impact;
  • Data analysis and visualisation skills, comfortable working with large datasets in Excel, Alteryx and/or Tableau;
  • A Masters, or equivalent qualification in economics, finance, business, sustainability, or related fields is helpful but not essential.
