Our data centers are the foundation upon which our software operates with efficient ease. Building and operating data centers the "right" way from the day they go live is synonymous with ensuring capacity availability and capital conservatism. Architecting, constructing, operating and continually innovating the telecommunications and structured cabling infrastructure within our data centers is fundamental to ensuring high availability, the capacity to meet our extreme growth demands and obtaining the most robust and cost-effective online service in the world! Facebook is seeking a seasoned professional to join our Facility Operations Centralized Integration Team as a Facilities Operations Integration Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for supporting our data center Facility Operations teams in the delivery of modernization programs and projects in a manner that promotes efficiency across the fleet. The candidate will interact with multiple site and HQ teams in a diverse range of technical content for internal and external-wide communications. Writing projects include but are not limited to technical documentation development, design manuals, operational manuals, procedural documents, compliance documents, and organization charts. In addition to writing, the candidate must be experienced in project management and various communication styles in order to work with our diverse teams. They will work with various stakeholders to define their business requirements and content to produce accurate and comprehensive documents. The candidate will also provide timely status updates to their key stakeholders regarding delivery progress. Experience in project management, process improvement or proficiency in data center operations is a plus. The candidate must be able to develop key documents and templates for the Facility Operations Organization. The responsibilities of this role include creating standard documents and templates, executive PowerPoint presentations, wiki pages, process flow charts and communication plans to fulfill the business requirements of various stakeholders and project teams. This position is full-time and located within the EMEA data center region. Managing stakeholders located across all regions and time zones is a significant challenge and is key to the success of our projects.

Required Skills

  • Manage a program consisting of a series of projects throughout their lifecycle, from initiation and preconstruction, through design, and into execution and closeout.
  • Define and manage program stakeholders across various cross functional teams.
  • Serve as a technical/consultative resource concerning operations of Data Center facilities and equipment, specifically for sites in the operational phase.
  • Coordinate programs/projects and their interdependencies between various other projects in the portfolio and/or among other stakeholder group
  • Support key programs developed by the FIE team supporting Facebook's overall data center retrofit and modernization effort.
  • Monitor program progress and health against key metrics (schedule, budget, etc.) and communicate regular status reports to executive leadership and stakeholders
  • Provide and handoff project execution packages to the site Project Managers and serve as an escalation path in support of the program(s).
  • Develop outward communications, standards, and publications for teams within Facilities Operations, as well as the larger Infra Data Centers organization.
  • Develop and lead effective communication strategies that include time-based syncs to maintain proactive stance/awareness about issues.
  • Foster a culture of data driven decision making.
  • Support day-to-day operations for the FacOps Integration Engineering Team.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (25%-50%).


Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or commensurate experience
  • At least ten years of experience in any combination of construction, operations, maintenance, and project planning.
  • Experience with retrofit projects in live data centers or other mission critical buildings.
  • Highly effective communications skills.
  • Experience evaluating audience and using cases to determine priorities and negotiate timelines for deliverables.
  • Proofreading and editing skills and experience producing and organizing content with a logical flow.
  • Demonstrated experience doing hands-on research and obtaining necessary technical content from subject matter experts while translating it into clear, concise documentation.
  • Proven teamwork skills and flexibility, attention to detail, and experience managing multiple projects and assignments.
  • Demonstrated experience meeting multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Experience with standard Data Center equipment to include: electrical distribution equipment from switchgear down to panelboards, VFDs, low voltage power and molded case circuit breakers, overhead IT busway, Diesel Generators, DX units, air handling units, water treatment equipment, controls and monitoring, and hot aisle containment accessories.


Preferred Qualification

  • Data center design and construction experience.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, BIM360, ProCore, eBuilder, P6, and/or wiki markup languages.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint.
  • Formal project management training and experience .
