Position: Finance Manager – Film4 & Marketing
Department: Finance
Reporting to: Head of Content Finance
Location: London

The Finance Manager, Film4 and Marketing will be the lead finance support and business partner for the Director of Film4 and the team, and the Chief Marketing Officer
and Marketing and 4creative teams.

The core purpose of the role is to proactively add value to the decision-making
(greenlighting and deal-making) process, and improve film recoupment using data, robust financial analysis and high quality financial reporting. The role requires
flexibility and an agile, can-do approach to meet the requirements of a rapidly changing business environment

Key to success in this role will be the ability to develop strong relationships with the various team in order to participate and add financial and commercial insight
to business meetings, understand business challenges and shape solutions, and help colleagues understand the financial implications of decisions


Business analytics and reporting
• Manage end-to-end Film 4 and Marketing P&L, cash and balance sheet including:
o Insightful commentary and up-to-date forecasts
o Ongoing budget monitoring and variance analysis
o Cash management
o Overhead & operational spend tracking
o Balance sheet reviews
o Review of month-end postings and monitoring transactions
o Tracking returns against Greenlight projections (Film4 only)
o Equity Write-offs (Film4 only)
o Title & Slate ROI (Film4 only)
• Deliver financial information and support to the business through insightful management reporting. Track performance against plan and identify and follow up
risks and opportunities
• Prepare financials for Board presentations & other papers as required
• Seek and implement reporting efficiencies and improvements to meet the needs of the Director of Film4, the CMO and the Channel 4 Exec/ Board
• Ensure accounts comply with appropriate accounting standards

Business and decision support
• Participate in and add financial and commercial insight to business-facing meetings
• Conduit for all feedback on Finance – understand the problems faced by the business and shape solutions
• Be a good educator and communicator to help management understand finance and how it can help
• Maintain database of equity returns to inform title ultimates and Film4 P&L, provide commercial deal comps / inform global deal strategy, and ad hoc analysis as
• Manage the Sales Tracker incorporating territory level data – inputting legacy data, new projects (incl. initial sales estimates), data from sales reports after
each market, and CAM statements, in order to provide deal comparatives & analysis in support of new film deals
• Work closely with the Commercial & Business Affairs team to provide robust analysis/inputs for project Greenlights

Business planning
• Manage the forecasting and annual budgeting process. Provide both challenge and support to Heads of Dept and Execs in formulating their plans, and meet all of
Channel 4’s timeframes
• Involvement in contract negotiation and procurement reviews where relevant
• Maintain, update and refine the long term financial plan for Film4, including use of new insights/ analytics/ trends identified through better data

• Line management of 2 staff providing support across all areas of responsibility
• Improve existing processes and controls, including developing methods for identifying titles that should be audited, and maintaining the tracking of sales and
collection data to inform ultimates
• Provide analysis & financial modelling for film investments as and when they arise
• Connect with other Finance Managers to share knowledge and coordinate responses / deliver solutions to common issues across the Channel 4 Group
• Ad hoc project support as and when required

• Fully Qualified Accountant with proven post qualified experience
• Excellent financial analysis and modelling skills (Advanced Excel skills) including assessing new business opportunities
• Management reporting, budgeting and forecasting experience
• Comfortable working in a highly results focused, complex organisation
• Proven experience of building excellent working relationships with non-finance members of the business
• Media and ideally film industry experience
• Excellent commercial awareness
• Bright, robust and hard working with strong communication skills
• Strong analytical skills; with an interest in detail but able to see the big picture
• Strong time management skills; organised in their work and comfortable working across multiple areas, able to prioritise the important issues
• High levels of personal credibility, professionalism and ethical standards
