We're looking for a Global Government Relations Manager to join our team. If you're interested in global health and want to use your skills to build a network of partnerships with governments around the world, then this could be the role for you. Reporting into the Head of Global Policy & Advocacy you will lead Wellcome's engagement programme with governments, creating a strong profile and increased understanding of Wellcome's contribution to science and health amongst key development donors.

The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation that supports research to improve health across the world. Our work is funded from a £25.9 billion investment portfolio, and over the next 5 years, we aim to spend around £5 billion on our mission.

The Global Policy and Advocacy Team is at the heart of Wellcome's work to influence international policy developments and call for positive change to improve health for all. We work with a wide range of partners including governments, multilateral agencies, international research funders, charities, civil society and the private sector in order to maximise our impact.

We're focused on a small number of big issues that are globally significant - this role will concentrate on maximising Wellcome's influence in science and health policy development around the world (especially in health, development and finance ministries), and will lead the planning for engagement with international political and diplomatic forums, such as G20, UNGA and the African Union.

To be successful in this role you'll be a highly motivated individual, with significant experience creating and overseeing the delivery of a coordinated approach to relationship management that supports consistent and coherent interactions between multiple teams at Wellcome and governments. You will have:
Experience of government relations work internationally
Experience of delivering advice to decision makers in complex political environments.
Experience of implementing relationship management approaches across matrix organisations
Experience of navigating political processes in a variety of international settings
Well-developed and demonstrable strategic planning skills
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills - identifying and building the trust of priority stakeholders, internally and externally
Ability to deliver presentations to senior-level audiences
Able to work with people at senior levels autonomously but with a strong collaborative and team ethic
To apply for the role please submit your up to date CV along with a cover letter of no more than one page outlining your motivations for applying for this role.
