We're looking for a Global Policy & Advocacy Manager to join our team. If you're interested in global health and want to use your skills to develop policy and influence policy-makers internationally, then this could be the role for you. Reporting into the Head of Global Policy & Advocacy you will oversee ambitious projects aimed at improving health for people around the world. Specifically, you will be focused on defining and driving a policy and advocacy strategy that supports the use of research evidence in policy and practice.

The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation that supports research to improve health across the world. Our work is funded from a £25.9 billion investment portfolio, and over the next 5 years, we aim to spend around £5 billion on our mission.

The Global Policy and Advocacy Team is at the heart of Wellcome's work to influence international policy developments and call for positive change to improve health for all. We work with a wide range of partners including governments, multilateral agencies, international research funders, charities, civil society and the private sector in order to maximise our impact.

We're focused on a small number of big issues that are globally significant - this role will concentrate on improving research uptake, so that research evidence is used by policy-makers, practitioners and other development actors. You will work with a team to deliver our vision of an enabling, equitable, and sustainable global environment where people work together to accelerate the impact of research on health.

To be successful in this role you'll be a highly motivated individual, with significant experience creating and overseeing the delivery of policy and advocacy projects in health (ideally in a global context), and will have:

Experience of addressing the challenges of using research in policy and practice
Well-developed and demonstrable strategic planning skills - identifying the work and tools required to deliver objectives and mobilising resources to achieve this.
People management and team building skills - ability to develop and motivate the people needed to deliver team objectives.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills - identifying and building the trust of priority stakeholders, internally and externally.
Experience of delivering policy advice to decision makers in complex environments.
Experience of reconciling conflicting priorities to deliver objectives to tight deadlines.
