Global Senior Category Strategy Manager - Fabric Cleaning

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a major category, globally.  This is not a traditional marketing role, it is a high exposure business strategy plus marketing role.  Supported by associate strategy manager, and in partnership with cross-functional teams, you will have the best insight on the category (through both data and organisational understanding) to:

  • identify the key growth opportunities at category / channel / market level; and address how to unlock these
  • create portfolio development playbooks and strategies,
  • lead category reporting and communication internally, including frequent reporting to EVP and divisional leadership
  • crucially, drive culture and management of world-leading innovation, that delivery the triple win for consumer, customer and company. 


  • Lead the management of category innovations: from growth opportunity understanding / innovation strategy, to management of the innovation funnel / portfolio, and integration of post-launch learnings into the live funnel Drives execution of the division & category strategy through standard and dedicated workstreams.  E.g. specific portfolio interventions, as well as annual strategy and prioritisation work
  • Work with strategy director, market insight and category EVP, to deliver key pieces of category / consumer strategic understanding
  • Lead category communication and team development, directly with EVP and HR


  • Strategic thinker, able to see both the bigger picture and the crucial details.
  • Strong communication: able to frame information to effectively communicate with senior stakeholders, both verbally and visually.
  • Strong analytical ability, a head for detail, combining data & intuition to synthesise insights and identify solutions.
  • A true team player, able to work across all levels of the organisation, and across functions.
  • Externally focused: constantly up to date with macro trends as well as competitive moves and can drive powerful themes and action.
  • Passion for Sustainability, sharing Unilever’s belief in doing well by doing good.
  • Self-motivated and highly organised, with good time management skills and discipline.
  • Passion for learning and constantly develops deeper understanding of consumers, markets and business.
  • Excellent stakeholder communications, at multiple levels
  • Experience in developing data-driven strategies (i.e. brand, country, category, channel)
  • Mastery of the fundamentals of both marketing and business management.

Prior experience of the category or Homecare is desirable but not required.  You will likely either hold, or be planning to pursue, an MBA; or have previous experience in strategy / agency / consultancy.
