As a Graduate Innovation Analyst at HS2 you will act as the focal point for innovation within HS2. The team works across the company and supply chain to deliver HS2's overall innovation strategy, delivering new technologies and techniques to be implemented in the programme. The role of Innovation Analyst will be to support the core innovation team to influence, steer and deliver innovation projects across HS2, learning our process from idea sourcing to concept delivery. During their time with the team we aim to provide the skills and capability for the Innovation Analyst to source, develop and deliver their own Innovation proof of concept project and ultimately become part of the team in the long term.

At HS2 we offer a two-year rotational graduate programme, providing you with the opportunity to stretch and challenge yourself across various programme related placements. This programme is designed around enabling you to get as much experience as possible across different teams within HS2.

About the role:
  • Assisting Innovation manager in the management of a portfolio of innovation projects across a broad range of technical and commercial areas in a complex safety critical programme.
  • Develop Innovation Execution Plans, Business Case and Market Analysis.
  • Build new relationships with Innovative companies and stakeholders in the MWCC partners to bring new ideas. Work with the team to deliver project documentation in quick turnaround and high-pressure situations.
  • To learn about the innovation process and how innovation accelerator environment.
  • Support the management of the HS2 project idea crowdsourcing platform.
  • Identify new ideas and communicate to the team.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.


About You:
  • Planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver day to day tasks.
  • Ability to coordinate and deliver multiple tasks and responsibilities in accordance with agreed deadlines. Communication skills and the ability to develop relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to develop creative ideas to promote continuous improvement.

  • 2:1 Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a Design related subject.
  • Appreciation of innovation functions to business.
  • Understanding of innovation and technology development.
  • Commercial understanding and awareness.
  • IT knowledge including Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent.

Type of experience:
  • Experience in relationship building.
  • Experience in presenting to a range of stakeholders.
