As a Procurement Graduate at HS2 you will provide procurement & commercial support across the directorate. The placement rotation will cover the full lifecycle of the procurement process from the initial market engagement, through the procurement process, post contract management and supplier relationship management to contract closure.

At HS2 we offer a two-year rotational graduate programme, providing you with the opportunity to stretch and challenge yourself across various programme related placements. This programme is designed around enabling you to get as much experience as possible across different teams within HS2.

About the role:
  • Support procurements throughout the procurement life-cycle stages from identifying the business need to contract completion drawing on internal and external resources as required. This may be individually or as part of team for larger strategic procurements such as construction.
  • Deliver procurement and commercial related activity in compliance with EU and UK procurement legislation, applicable government policies and procurement routes; ensuring compliance with HS2 Governance.
  • Utilise the e-procurement solution and other bespoke applications to deliver support across the Procurement & Supply Chain Directorate.
  • Attend external facing engagement events representing HS2 Ltd to external parties.
  • Participate in team meetings for the relevant team and contribute team objectives including change initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Support (and provide where applicable) on the production and presentation of reports to the Senior Leadership Team which evidence successful delivery of key objectives.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.


About You:
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workloads to ensure all work is completed and delivered to agreed deadlines and standard.
  • Ability to produce and present documents and reports to a variety of audiences, including stakeholders at various levels in the organisation.
  • Communication skills and the ability to develop relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to critically analyse data from a range of sources and in a variety of different formats to produce concise and relevant management information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary team and with stakeholders.
  • 2:1 Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline.
  • Awareness of the key areas within a Procurement & Commercial Directorate.
  • IT knowledge including; Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent.
  • Understand the need for business & procurement processes and to be able to follow due process.
Type of experience:
  • Experience in relationship building.
  • Experience in presenting to a range of stakeholders.
