Customer Development (Sales) makes sure that shoppers can find our brands, wherever and whenever they want them. We are responsible for building and growing relationships with our customers, predicting tomorrow's shopping trends and identifying exciting new ways to make Unilever products stand out in a crowded market. CD is where it all happens; whether it’s working with Supply Chain to get stock on shelf at the right size, price and for the right shopper occasions, or with Marketing to drive new campaigns forward and selling to our retailers.

The role is based in our UK & Ireland Head Office in Leatherhead. Located in the Surrey countryside, our office is home to a restaurant, a deli bar, a gym, a hair salon and a free Ben & Jerry’s bar to indulge in a tasty treat. You could be enjoying your lunch on our beautiful terrace in the summer, getting your hair trimmed, or letting off some steam in a personal training session! You can also find a subsidised shop offering a selection of our Unilever products.
At UNILEVER NOW we started as a scale-up within Unilever over 3 years ago, focused on instant delivery of Ice cream and beyond. We work with restaurants and aggregator platforms like Just Eat, Food Chains like Domino’s and Pizza Hut, and we have launched our own virtual stores through players like Uber Eats and Deliveroo. The latest rapidly growing channel of Unilever Now is Grocery Now, as convenience and grocery stores are starting to sell more products on Uber Eats and Deliveroo. As well as players like Getir entering the UK market.
We are looking for entrepreneurs with a lean and pragmatic mindset, that can carve out the future of digital commerce and home delivery by unlocking the power of data. This particular job is the right fit for someone who wants to be a pioneer in setting up the ‘newly formed’ grocery NOW channel for ice cream and other categories by analyzing data, building the strategy from scratch with our convenience and grocery teams and customers and developing solutions with brands to reach more people every day.

The role that is vacant is “Grocery Now Platform Lead- UNILEVER NOW UK”.
We are surfing on the digital wave that is going through the retail landscape. And you are the connector between partners, markets & brands to set-up the right mix, offers, and comms in grocery NOW channels to have more baskets with our ice cream brands!
You are placed as part of the UNILEVER NOW team to drive the Grocery Now Strategy. Whilst you’ll set-up the strategical roadmap; you’ll also work closely with other sales teams & partners to make the day count!
Live and Breathe the grocery NOW strategy with partners & sales teams
- Share the vision of grocery NOW with all sales teams and create your WOW to make it happen in 2021!
- Identify the consumer occasions and land the portfolio and content for those occasions in full year calendar.
- Leverage learning across sales channels to act with speed.
Define the investment strategy for grocery NOW with key partners (i.e Deliveroo, Ubereats and new pure play players like Getir)
- Define the investment & ad strategy together with partners to boost conversion with speed.

a. Mindset: You are passionate about how data should be interpreted for business growth! You are a disrupter that is a bit rebellious that helps you to be creative at times when things seem impossible. You think consumer first & you’re collaborative to show our partners how data brings meaning & business growth across both sides. Last but not least; you have a strong drive; you’ll not be tired to rally the people to drive ‘Grocery Now’ movement. You obviously love speed, action, analysis and continuous optimization.
b. Capability: You have a background in ecommerce, account management and/ or category management. You’ll need to show how you can drive grocery Now with a holistic approach to address our penetration and distribution targets. You are a super connector so that; you will use your data knowledge, innovative thinking, analytical rigour, and collaborative approach to develop the right data streams and draw meaning to them. You are always on the look to understand consumers in this space and ready to optimize our stores with the right insights.
- Before any experience you need to have the drive; drive to challenge the status quo and make things happen from scratch.
- Account management/ eCommerce / category management/ Digital project management experience
- Experience in managing cross functional teams, and strong influencing and people management skills. Ability to take the teams along and getting the job done leveraging cross-functional expertise.
*Grocery Now comes to life in 2 major models: 1- delivery apps having their own warehouses (pureplay model like Getir in Turkey, gopuff in US, 2- Convenience or supermarkets become available on delivery apps with their online assortment (i.e Co-op in Deliveroo etc).
