As a Head of Data and Strategy, the post holder will lead and work as part of a dynamic team in developing an effective commercial, procurement and supply chain data and systems strategy, with a focus on NHS Provider data, by leading engagement with a wide range of NHS organisations and priority programmes (e.g. Get IT Right First Time GIRFT), Department of Health and Social Care, external alliances, partnerships and stakeholder groups to promote innovation and drive end-to-end operational excellence.

The core focus of the post holder will be to determine requirements for and harness the potential of (1) data in and outputs and (2) technology solutions (i.e. workflow automation and enablement) along commercial, procurement and supply chain process domains to optimise operations and enable effective insight on national, regional and integrated care system level.

The post holder will lead all analytical developments relating to commercial, procurement and supply chain to support national initiatives (e.g. Covid-19 demand planning visibility response, recovery and restoration, GIRFT, End of Transition).

In coordination with Department of Health and Social care, the post holder will provide oversight of the end-to-end NHS demand to contract, requisition to pay and supply chain 'enterprise architecture' to enhance collaboration on strategic efforts and will ensure that projects are executed in alignment with the strategic goals, policies, performance objectives and target architecture standards of the wider health system.

As the leader of the Data Strategy team, the post holder will support the ambitions of the wider Commercial Directorate to support health systems in England to improve quality, efficiency and value of commercial service delivery by identifying and reducing the unwarranted variation, driving process efficiency and increasing data-led insight - ultimately improving the commercial performance of the system.

The post holder will have accountability and responsibility for the strategic and operational development of the team and its strategy. Plans to achieve the strategy will be underpinned by the delivery of short to medium term objectives.
