At Big Talk (part of ITV Studios Ltd) we are one of the UK’s leading television production companies. Over the last 20 years we have enjoyed an exceptional output of outstanding original scripted television comedy and drama with a track record of nurturing talent.

We have an exciting interim opportunity to provide the maternity cover for our Head of Legal & Business Affairs and invite applications from individuals with proven and strong in-house or private practice experience within fast paced scripted television production and ideally film production.


Jointly reporting to our CEO and MD, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the negotiation, drafting and contracting our agreements with key contributors (e.g. writers, rights owners, artists, directors, producers), co-production partners, broadcasters and financiers across a diverse range of programmes and motion pictures.


As part of the senior management team, they will support the CEO and MD in their day to day running of the Company as well as contribute to the business strategy and delivery.

Along with the Senior Legal & Business Affairs Executive, they will provide legal support to all levels of the editorial and production teams throughout the creative process, from development, through production to final delivery. 

The role is based in our central London office but home working will be required should Government guidelines necessitate it.


We are looking for someone who demonstrates expertise and sound practical experience in copyright and trade mark law, contract law and intellectual property. The successful candidate must have a strong knowledge of the UK TV sector, relevant collective bargaining agreements and the broadcaster Terms of Trade. A knowledge of the US TV sector and UK data protection legislation and its application would be an advantage.


Candidates must have excellent communication skills with a proven ability to negotiate complex deals and produce clear and concise documentation in a timely manner. They must be able to work proactively and effectively both autonomously and as part of a team, a strong attention to detail is essential.
