The Role

The Head Of Production Mat cover will report into the Brand Manager and work closely alongside the Product Development, Garment Technology and B&M teams. Reporting directly into the Head of Production Mat cover is the Production Manager, who subsequently line manages two Production Coordinators and a Fabric QC and Controller. The Head Of Production Mat cover will drive and coordinate the whole production process from the point of product development handover to DC deliver and work closely with the Brand Manager to ensure margin is protected, delivery dates are achieved so that budgets and targets are met.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the production manager and subsequent direct reports are managing and maintaining all orders in real time through the matrix (critical path) so accurate statuses are readily available on all raw materials and styles
  • Prompt the production team on all key and relevant critical path dates and ensure they are all working towards them
  • Coordinate with Product Developer to ensure a smooth and timely handover from development to production, asking all pertinent questions to ensure production process will be straight forward in its execution
  • Work hand in hand with the Product Developer on factory allocations, taking into consideration each factories' capacity as well as the needs of the business
  • Costings - offer continued guidance so the whole production team is able to carry out this task with ease
  • Oversee the team in placing purchase orders with mills and factories - Ensuring along with the Production Manager, POs are correct and associated data is accurate on our internal system
  • Lead the production team in ensuring delivery dates are set and maintained - picking up regularly with suppliers, addressing any issues and taking necessary action
  • Update Brand Manager in a timely manner on any delivery issues, always pre-empting possible solutions to problems and minimising knock on effect to sales performance
  • Lead price negotiation with all suppliers, maintain and analyse costs and pricing grids
  • Oversee the team in raising production invoices
  • Check and prioritise production invoices alongside Brand Manager
  • Support the QC assistant in analysing QC % fail rates with the view to highlighting data to suppliers, resolving issues and thus improving the future quality of goods
  • Nurture strong relationships with the production team and our supply base arranging regular Zoom calls/factory visits
  • Negotiate MOQs with existing and new factories and mills (where necessary)
  • Sourcing new manufacturers to offer competitive pricing, good quality, have low minimums and meet with the creative and sustainable requirements of the department
  • Championing the brand's sustainability effort ensuring it is at the forefront of all decisions and strategic conversations with the supply base
  • The Head of production Mat cover will suggest, lead and appoint the relevant team on any ad-hoc tasks and projects that come up


  • Extensive experience in luxury womenswear with good knowledge of the luxury market
  • Highly numerate and analytical
  • Experienced on Zedonk
  • Ability to lead and mentor the team
  • Excellent communication and follow up skills
  • A self-starter with excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
