DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Business Assurance performs Internal Audit, Risk Management, Business Continuity and Investigation activities across all areas of Channel 4. It provides a combination of advice, support and assurance to help ensure that key risks are suitably managed or mitigated across the business. The function reports into the Chief Operating Officer, with a dotted reporting line to the Chair of the Audit Committee (Non-Executive Director).

JOB PURPOSE

This is a newly created role within Channel 4 which will be responsible for monitoring the control environment in force across Channel 4 through conducting internal audit reviews and monitoring management action plans. Reporting into the Head of Business Assurance, this role will be tasked to establish new internal audit processes and methodologies and oversee their implementation. To date, all internal audits have been conducted via a third-party co-source partner. With the creation of this role, we will start to perform a number of internal audit in house, particularly in relation to the more creative and commercial areas of the business. This is an exciting time to join the team, as we implement a new risk-based audit planning approach and establish new ways of working.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establish new Internal Audit processes, methodology and workpaper templates, in line with Chartered Institute of Internal Audit standards, along with the Head of Business Assurance.
  • Conduct approx. 4-5 internal audits over the duration of the contract, as determined by the Head of Business Assurance.
  • Liaise with our co-source Internal Audit provider to set up and monitor the completion of internal audit reviews performed by them.
  • Follow up on the management actions agreed during internal audit reviews, through to successful closure.
  • Support the Head of Business Assurance in the preparation of Audit Committee reporting (approx. quarterly).
  • Support the Head of Business Assurance in the preparation of risk reporting, including participating in risk meetings with the business, developing/ updating risk registers, assisting with the preparation of Audit Committee reporting, and supporting on the continued improvement of risk processes.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • Proven extensive Internal Audit experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of CIIA standards, including experience of putting audit methodologies/ processes in place.
  • Experience working on "enterprise risk management" reporting/ processes
  • Media experience beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent track record of forging highly effective business relationship, particularly in creative areas
  • Enjoys hands-on audit work, despite number of years' experience (non-hierarchical attitude)
